FPM: We Understand Hizbullah's Delay in Tackling Local Issues due to its Forced Intervention in Syria

Free Patriotic Movement and Hizbullah officials held talks on Wednesday as part of the former's efforts to hold talks with all political powers in order to end the deadlock in Lebanon, announced the movement in a statement on Thursday.

The FPM's representative at the talks, Bassam al-Hashem said: “We understand Hizbullah's delay in tackling some local affairs due to the circumstances it is passing through given that it is being targeted by local forces and due to its intervention in Syria against its will.”

He said that the differences in position between the FPM and Hizbullah have not affected the movement's “absolute support to the resistance.”

The FPM delegation was headed by al-Hashem and Hizbullah's delegation that included its deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem and party politburo member Ghaleb Abu Zainab.

The FPM statement said that the two sides “share the same aspirations and their ties transcend their 2006 Memorandum of Understanding.”

The ties between the force has transformed into an alliance, it added.

The movement and party stressed the strength of their alliance and the friendship between FPM leader MP Michel Aoun Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

Qassem meanwhile stated that the agreement between the two sides does not simply encompass supporting the resistance, but it also covers internal issues.

“There are no differences over the essence of these files, but some differences over their details, which is normal,” he added.

“Organizing our relations lies in constantly coordinating them away from the media spotlight,” he explained.

Moreover, he hailed the FPM's decision to hold talks with all political powers, describing it as brave and wise.

“The FPM does not fear being open to all sides,” he remarked.

The Change and Reform bloc criticized on Tuesday the political deadlock in Lebanon, with MP Ibrahim Kanaan saying: “An agreement should be reached to avoid fragmenting the state. Lebanon's fate should no longer be linked to Syria. What if the situation there lasted for years? What will we do then?”

The FPM announced recently that it will hold a series of talks with political powers in order to end the country's deadlock.

It is expected to hold talks later on Thursday with the Mustaqbal bloc.

If only the fpm can be taught or teach then maybe. Don't get me wrong. They are doing a fine job. Usually it's clean as a whistle.

"due to its intervention in Syria against its will.”
The mighty HA is a victim now? being forced to do something against their will? what a joke. who fights a war in another country against their own will and can still claim to be our best defense strategy against a completely different threat. If they had Lebanon's best interest in mind they would be intervening in against their will. EPIC FAIL!

Yes action man. Did you not see the interview with Aoun himself? He provided voice and video recordings, pictures, and the official transcript between him and the French embassy that prove with no room for doubt, that the embassy kidnapped mon general from the Baabda palace using elite French forces. Tied him up after they compelled him to make his historic speech threw him in a car and whisked him away, first picking up his family, to the airport for his forced exile. But let us not forget that before all this happened, Aoun guaranteed the safety of his "army", family, associates, and fpmers in general. So much so, that a large portion of them were offered a dream getaway in a Syrian luxury resort, one which all of them still REFUSE to return to their homeland from. Stop twisting the truth will you? And gobble up the undisputed proof.
