LF chief Samir Geagea during press conference: The detention of Higher Relief Council chief Ibrahim Bashir is a sign that the state can take action when it needs to. over 10 years

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea noted on Monday that Lebanon's constitution and National Pact make no reference to resistance movements.

He declared during a press conference: “The lack of reference renders Hizbullah an unconstitutional and illegitimate armed group and we will never recognize its legitimacy.”

“It is not a resistance, but an organized armed group that does not abide by the law,” he added.

“I challenge anyone to prove to me where the National Pact makes a reference to a resistance movement in Lebanon,” he continued.

“Anyone who claims otherwise is altering historic facts and treaties,” he stated.

Moreover, Geagea said that Hizbullah's actions over the past eight years had not served Lebanon, but only itself and Iran.

He refuted claims by Hizbullah members that they seek partnership with other Lebanese factions, saying that the party had disregarded and is still disregarding the country's interests by fighting in Syria alongside the Syrian regime.

Commenting on Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's recent remarks that the party does not need the support of all Lebanese parties, Geagea asked: “What then is left of the Lebanese people's ties among each other? This party exists in Lebanon and anything it does will affect all of us, so why shouldn't it need our support?”

“Nasrallah has not been officially tasked by anyone to administer Lebanon's strategic affairs,” he continued.

In addition, the LF leader said that over the past eight years, Hizbullah has acted as an illegitimate armed group, not a resistance, giving the example of the events of May 7, 2008, among others.

“Hizbullah's illegitimate actions have led to lawlessness in Lebanon where several regions are not subject to the law,” he said.

“Hizbullah has been linked to terrorist activities abroad, such as Bulgaria and Thailand. Are these acts of a resistance or an illegitimate armed group?” he wondered.

“Lebanon can no longer exist as a state and it can never enjoy any peace and prosperity as long as Hizbullah continues to conduct itself as it is,” he stressed.

Addressing Nasrallah's remarks on the Syrian crisis, Geagea said: “It is unacceptable for him to alter historic facts linked to the unrest.”

“He is trying to make the people believe that the Syrian regime, which is the example of innocence, is being attacked by the United States, other countries, and takfiris. This vision of the Syrian conflict is very far from the truth,” he added.

“It is unacceptable for Nasrallah to alter historic facts to suit his interests,” he stated.

“Poisoning the people's thoughts is more dangerous than bombings that had taken place in Lebanon in recent months and he should not undermine the people's intelligence,” he declared.

Turning to some Lebanese powers that are fearful over the fate of Christians in the East, Geagea said: “It is very unfortunate that some sides are exploiting this issue for the sake of the Syrian regime.”

“Some sides are portraying the conflict in Syria as being that of the regime against takfiris, while completely disregarding the Syrian people,” he remarked in an indirect reference to Free Patriotic Movement MP Michel Aoun.

“These sides have forgotten the fate of former Presidents Bashir Gemayel and Rene Mouawad and other figures who have been assassinated,” he added.

Addressing the dispute over the formation of a new government, the LF leader suggested the formation of a cabinet that does not include the March 8 and 14 camps because they are in disagreement over all pending issues.

A government that includes both of these sides will render it ineffective because their disputes will cripple it, he explained.

On the March 8 demands for cabinet to convene in order to tackle the petroleum file and its accusations that the March 14 camp is hampering such efforts, Geagea noted: “One camp, some of whose members had never cared for the people's interests, is making it seem that the other is not keen on this issue.”

“The oil file is not being addressed because the people do not trust the officials who are responsible for it,” he clarified.

“The current caretaker ministers are not qualified to address this issue,” he continued.

“We oppose holding any cabinet session to discuss the oil file, not because we don't want to address this issue, but because we want it to be handled by honest officials,” he stressed.

Geagea: The petroleum file is not being tackled because the people do not trust the current ministers and officials responsible for it."

The petroleum file is being held hostage by Mustaqbal with the help of Wahhabi Christians like Geagea.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan over 10 years

Yes. HA did not benefit at all by getting complete control of Lebanon.

Thumb _mowaten_ over 10 years

HA is not in full control of lebanon, stop playing the victim card all the time.
HA's situation before or after hariri's assassination didnt change

Thumb _mowaten_ over 10 years

actually if anything it was negatively affected. hariri was a good friend of nasrallah, with these two hand in hand it would have been unthinkable to get to the current situation where anything could ignite a shia-sunni war.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan over 10 years

Sure. Haram. They are in a horrible situation. And Hariri was with HA because that was the reality. Not because he wanted them or would not have it any other way.
And NO ONE plays the victim more than poor poor HA. The whole world is in on the Zionist conspiracy against them.

Well stated Peace!

Habibi Geagea....we all know this about the evil sect. Unfortunately the only way out (get rid of this disease) is if 1) Iran is crippled/destroyed (The Devil itself) or 2) Israel once & for all finishes the job next time around (foot note: Israel is scum as well in it's own ways but if need, this scum can be Lebanon's savior as ironic as it comes across)!

Thumb general_puppet over 10 years

As usual the cheerleaders spewing the same old BS… yes momo, Hariri was Nasrallah's best friend he also wanted Nasrallah's partners the Assad's to keep the Syrian occupation force in Lebanon in perpetuity. That is why the Israelis assassinated him.

God bless samir geagea for speaking THE truth. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization. I fear for Mr Geagea's life now that he's gaining momentum. Hezbollah missed him when he picked the rose, they won't miss him again. Allah yihmik ya Hakim. May god bless the M14 alliance, the ONLY legitimate and democratic alliance in the middle east! LOL peace, it must have been at least two days since someone took out the 1982 video to accuse nasrallah of wanting to establish an islamic state.

Missing peace over 10 years

the difference is that your iranian militia still calls itself ISLAMIC resistance and not LEBANESE resistance! LOL

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan over 10 years

The difference is Geagea commited many crimes and went to jail. Whil Berri, Aoun, Hasoon, jumblat and franjieh were given posts, autonomy and other forms of pats on the back.

Thumb _mowaten_ over 10 years

the difference is the crimes geagea made cannot be undone, the thousands dead cant be brought back

whereas the speech by nasrallah can be reverted, and it has been several times renounced.

Thumb _mowaten_ over 10 years

the difference is geagea was an outspoken israeli agent, and had so many assassinated in his quest for self-serving, including christian figures like monsignor Khreiss, while hezbollah kept sacrificing itself to defend lebanon and kick the invaders out.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan over 10 years

Oh the thousands killed by Berri, Hasoon and jumblat are back!!! Praise The Lord. It's an 23joobeh!!! Pathetic.

The outgoing government can not handle the file and Bassil is not qualified to be a minister; and that is the truth.. Now Geagea is not a Doctor and never was... They just called him Hakeem as a warlord nickname.... The country is really in sad state and lousy leaders in both camps

Thumb FlameCatcher over 10 years

@FT : Venom, baseless hate and spite was actually Nasrallah's last speech ... you get confused too often...

Geagea is the one with the moustache. Nasrallah wears a turban and a beard... He's also the one with a 40,000 strong army...

Thumb FlameCatcher over 10 years

Actually, read carefully. Geagea did not mention Bassil above... not once. The BS is coming out of you :)

He's talking about ministers not qualified to tackle the oil file. Do you sincerely believe they are qualified ? I'm not asking if their opponents are qualified because I have the same answer as you ! I simply believe they are more qualified when it comes to salvaging the lebanese economy which was doing great before Hassan's great adventure with Israel.

Thumb FlameCatcher over 10 years

MinisterS with an S mean all your ministers are incompetent. Not just Bassil ... If you consider Bassil to be the only incompetent minister, that's on you !

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan over 10 years

Ya all seeing inta. This whole mess is because of Aoun and backtracking and selling his principles ( if indeed he ever had any) you gobble up this bs that he did not want to alienate 33% of the country ( the Shia) he could have done that without giving legitimacy to the very weapons he spent his pampered years in exile attacking. But some follow a man. Not a principle.

This doesn't change the fact that I disagree with you on the main issues and want to see a weapons-free Hezbollah !

Thumb FlameCatcher over 10 years

Tab yalla ... disarm ... actions speak louder than words. For the moment, the only things I see are more fighters, more weapons and more fighting ... and more excuses not to disarm.

Thumb FlameCatcher over 10 years

And please remind me in 3 days ... I would love to see that !

Stop finding excuses to disarm and do it already...

Haha FT. We sat at the table and "agreed" on many points that were never implemented. You want us to negotiate forever? Or as Hasoon said until the liberation of Jerusalem? It is their masters the un takfiri. Liberal. Ayatollahs. Lol

Geagea. Every thing you said about HA was spot on. But why critisize the FPM for handling the oil ministry? Why undermine your christian competitors? Bassil did a good job whether you like it or not. Admit it and pride yourself that this portfolio did not go to one of the thieves Berri or Jumblat.

Thumb lebanon_first over 10 years

true FPM dont have the competence that say, CDR has. And true they stumbled in their work in the beginning. True Bassil has no charisma. True they want to steal some money to pay off their electors (way less than Hariri or Amal)...
However, FPM handled the oil file better than everyone before them.

Thumb lebanon_first over 10 years

Peacelover. HA is not waiting for FPM to legitimize its presence. HA is here because Iran wants it here. The FPM are using HA's political weight to strengthen christians a little bit after Hariri politics completely marginalized christians in the 90s.

while being a M14 christian allied to western free countries is destroying them LOL

sure and iran is not backing syria to preserve their pipelines and oil interests, syria is a country of freedom as iran is, syria does not control half the politicians in lebanon, syria is not a dictatorship and M8 are not their puppets and syria and iran are for the freedom of all arab people only if they obey their regimes right? ... LOL

no bigjohn... iran together with russia are trying to preserve the pipeline going to russia to compete with the gulf pipeline that go to turkey...
russia is in dire need of this pipeline to keep selling gas to europe... why do you think rusia and iran are so fiercely defending syria? why do you think M8 is so desperate to pass their oil law ?

Missing peace over 10 years

russia can deal with the islamists, they do not fear it, but they fear the competition of the gulf states for the gas distribution in europe... the war in syria now has turned into the defense of the oil interests... nothing more...

Hmmm... So then, by this logic, the LF was illegitimate from its inception because it too was at one time a resistance movement? Of course, that was before it attacked the Lebanese Army on behalf of Syria to bring in occupation to the Christian areas. By Geagea's own logic, LF should disband immediately because it is illegitimate.

Guys Seriously i listen to Lebanese politics all the time & it makes me laugh all the time all the crap they say, i hate them all(You name it March 8 or 14 politicians).
