Raad: Resistance Ready to Perform its Duty if Maritime Zone Threatened

W300

Head of Hizbullah’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, MP Mohammed Raad, stressed Sunday “the Resistance’s readiness to perform its duty.”

“We’re not the side entitled to demarcate our territorial waters, the (Lebanese) State is rather the side entitled to do that, but should this maritime zone come under any threat, danger or attack from the Israeli enemy, the Resistance will be ready to perform its duty,” Raad vowed.

“We had performed this strategy and it had proven its effectiveness and the enemy was disappointed in the July War, but some have not acknowledged it until now,” he added.

Last week Raad warned Israel against developing "a single meter" of disputed waters in the eastern Mediterranean to search for offshore gas deposits.

The Lebanese government “will restore the sovereignty of our waters in their entirety," said Raad.

"The Israeli enemy cannot drill a single meter in these waters to search for gas and oil if the zone is disputed ... No company can carry out prospecting work in waters whose sovereignty is contested," he said.

Hizbullah in 2006 fought a deadly war with the Jewish state in which most of Lebanon's major infrastructure was destroyed.

Lebanon's Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour has said the maritime border as proposed by Israel posed a threat to regional security.

The proposed frontier cuts through Lebanon's economic zone, Mansour said, adding that Lebanon would "turn to the United Nations."

The feud over offshore gas fields has deepened since Israel's cabinet on July 12 approved a map of the country's proposed maritime borders with Lebanon to be submitted for a U.N. opinion.

The proposed map lays out maritime borders that conflict significantly with those suggested by Lebanon in its own submission to the United Nations.

Energy and Water Minister Jebran Bassil has said Lebanon will not give up its maritime rights, and accused Israel of "violations of (Lebanese) waters, territory and airspace, and today our oil rights."

Israel has for months been moving to develop several large offshore natural gas fields, some which are shared with Cyprus, that it hopes could help it to become an energy exporter.

But its development plans have stirred controversy with Lebanon, which argues the gas fields lie inside its territorial waters.

Israel does not have officially demarcated maritime borders with Lebanon, and the two countries remain technically at war.

....or you can just keep ur weapons in ur pockets and let us do this in a civilized manner

@ithinkthere..

you speak of civilized manner living in a world were there is none, or are you that "nice and cuddly" in a hippie world, I really hope they solve this peacefully truly do, but if these waters hold oil which in return could possibly make our lives better financially in the future and there are sharks swimming in them then one must be always prepared to do whatever possible just show your teeth but don't bite, atleast show the teeth first its a law of nature. while i don't much agree with some of what the resistence do in this country and while i despise the other half calling themselves the fighters of democracy, I hope this wont lead into any further conflicts, or maybe m14 want exactly that so they'll find reasons to use it against their opposition as they always do, play machiaveli, worst kind of enemy, the enemy within.

Empty talk like his head...... The resistance only carries out its duties by intimidating other lebanese and eroding the state. That is what you're good at.

From behind bars, the now-defunct March shall watch the real defenders of Lebanon do their work without having the opportunity of stabbing them from all sides like they have done before. Sorry, Israel. Sorry, USA. Sorry, LOSERS AND COLLABORATORS.

Hezbollah is itching for another beating while exposing the whole of lebanon to death and destruction.
Your "I work for iran and I do not care if all the lebanese die for the Islamic republic " attitude is no longer a secret. No one wants to die for Iran and no one wants to solve the maritime dispute with Lebanese blood.
This matter could be solved peacefully and does not need Hezbollah to use it as a pretext to justify its false " Resistance" .

Barking dogs never bite. They bark out of fear that they cannot resist that which strikes fear in their hearts. Raad knows better than most that it would make Israel's day for Hezbollah to engage in provocative military moves over the maritime boundary between the states. With Syria in chaos and unable to assist, Hezbollah is at its most vulernable right now, should Israel attack its arsenal. With Hezbollah eaten up with Mossad spies, I am sure that the Israelis will know just when, how and where to strike and then what will Hezbollah be without its precious weapons, or its stratgic depth in Syria.
This threat is empty of credibility. About as empty as the Mikati government is of legitimacy. On whose orders will Hezbollah strike? Iran's? Syria's? Who tells Hezbollah where the maritime demarcation line is? Nasrallah knows from his hole in the ground? This makes Raad, a silly man, look even more so.

ALL
Use your heads, do the research and then express your opinion. There is something called directional drilling in which Israel can drill in their own water and go inside the land at an angle till well below our waters, our borders and take our oil/gas AND NO ONE CAN FIND OUT unless we use our BRAINS and monitor the volume before and after. So gentlemen, use your BRAINS and not your hearts/political affiliations. This is the problem with the lebanese, they don't think, they just talk

Default-user-icon Fadi (Guest) almost 13 years

You guys are all full of hatred, whether with or against those words are just pure hatred. It's sad to see our lebanese brothers never change.

Hezballah needs to stop dragging Lebanon into wars! Some people would like to raise a family in peace in a country where the word is stronger than the gun. Too bad that will never happen as along as terrorist militias like Hezballah are allowed to carry weapons have a free pass to do whatever they want.

Can someone tell this Mr. Raad we do not need him or his stupid resistance to "Be ReadY". Nor do we want this double standard, whereby on one hand they rape the state and its institutions and on the other hand they sweet talk us by saying"they are ready to step in". Mr. Raad should know this would not detract our efforts to pursue the STL and disarm the “resistance”.
Let me also clarify one myth Mr Raad You never won the July 2006 war against Israel. Please quit day dreaming and stating that you won the war. This is a lie and it is true that when you keep repeating it you begin to believe in it
Here are some facts about your July 06 war
True Israel underestimated your strength
True you lasted 30 days of Israeli onslaught
But did you forget that you begged and promptly accepted then PM Siniora’s call for a cease fire. Why? Because simply Israel realized its error and was about to decimate you.
End results YOU NEVER WON THE WAR
You only cause destruction and despair

I hardly comment, however i did a few searching and wound up here Raad: Resistance Ready to Perform its Duty if Maritime Zone Threatened — Naharnet.
And I actually do have 2 questions for you if you tend
not to mind. Is it just me or does it seem like some of
these remarks come across like written by brain dead folks?
:-P And, if you are posting on additional online sites, I'd like to keep up with anything new you have to post. Could you list of every one of all your shared sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
