Report: Policy Statement May Be Announced Monday after Overcoming Resistance Obstacle

W300

The policy statement of the new government may be announced on Monday after overcoming reservations linked to the role of the resistance, reported the daily An Nahar on Sunday.

Political sources revealed to the daily that the statement may assert the “Lebanese people's right to resist Israel”, but through the state as their main authority.

The daily added that a political decision had been taken “by the highest authorities” in order to eliminate all obstacles that may stand in the way of the new government in order to dedicate attention towards confronting security dangers.

Speaker Nabih Berri, who had returned from his trip abroad, had tasked his envoy, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, to propose a few solutions to the obstacle of the “army-people-resistance” formula that Hizbullah advocates.

This formula and the March 14 camp's commitment to the Baabda Declaration were seen as two main obstacles in the approval of a new ministerial statement.

A ministerial committee tasked with devising the statement has so far met three times to come up with a statement.

Various ministers have said that the majority of obstacles have been overcome, but the controversial “army-people-resistance equation” remained a point of contention.

The statement needs to add "The Lebanese people's right to resist Saudi Arabia" as well.

It should include the Lebanese people's right to resist any foreign country, whether it be Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iran, Syria, Qatar etc.

Lebanese right to resist 1-Assad, 2- Palestinians, 3-Israel.

Why are we only talking about Israel? Why is the ennemy of the shia more an issue than the ennemies of christians and ennemies of sunnites?

i did not realize that palestinians were the enemy of sunnis, or that lebanon was at war with syria. thanks for your comment lebanon_first, it did not sound sectarian at all, and i think you are very wise to declare war to syria, and the hundreds of thousands of palestinians who are living here.

Thumb lebanon_first 10 years

mowaten.
It is sectarian because Lebanon IS sectarian.
Assad the stalinist is the ennemy of all Lebanon (except the shias for obvious reasons)

Israel the racist state is the ennemy of the Shia mostly- The rest of Lebanon dont mind negotiating a peace deal but to cater to the (armed) Shia they are giving lip service to "Israel is the ennemy"- and this, until the Golan gets liberated.

And the palestinians' are the ennemies of the christians, since their dream was to kick the christians out of Lebanon. (the Lebanese resistance of the LF and Kataeb of the 70s 80s squashed them however)- But they are not to be trusted- like the events in kuwait showed...

and no. I dont want to declare war to the palestinians. I just want to strip them of every weapon they have down to the kitchen knife. Inside and outside the camp. Let them start acting as guests and stop acting like they owned the place.

FT man. I was for the orthodox law.

Also dont try to classify me under M8/M14. I dont follow a leader. I follow principles, and both have some positive principles.

we have every right to resist the sectarian farsi militia. This should be the only reference to resistance in the policy statement.

disagree,
We should resist extremists of all sects, armed militias and individuals of all sects and political affiliations, all parties in Lebanon with known allegiance to outside influences. and resist our politicians who sold us out and still do.

helicopter.
We all complain about our politicians. True. They are not great. But think about it. If it weren't for their calls for restraint, we would be in a civil war now. They are each holding their masses against civil unrest.

yes u are right.

Let's be realistic here everyone. Whether or not the policy statement mentions the resistance, terrorists, the economy, tourism, the climate crisis, the Ukrainian revolution, or the fact that Facebook acquired Whatsapp, isn't going to make a whole lot of difference. Hayda kello de7ek 3al ness, and that's what our politicians are good at.

FT indeed the palestinians wronged us, nobody can deny that, but i belive they also paid for it very dearly. my point is not that it makes it alright, but we can't keep making them pay for it eternally.
and yes, they cannot stay for ever, and this is why liberating palestine is in lebanon's interest. in the end, throughout history, the invaders and occupiers were all eventually sent packing. but us, as people of the area, with all our differences, are bound to live with each other, and i think we should be able to forgive and move on.

Thumb lebanon_first 10 years

Mowaten. It is not a matter of forgiveness. We are ready to forgive the pals: The tragedy that befell on this people is one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century.

More than only forgive them, We are ready to help them. And we did help them a lot compared to our means. More so than any other country in the word. However we are not willing to keep our country hostage until they return to their land. We are not ready to allow them to tamper with our safety and sovereignty.

Thumb lebanon_first 10 years

FT. I am saying that the pals are ennemies of christians because sunnites would love to have them implant in lebanon to get more "sunnites" in lebanon (Little do they know that it is their jobs that they will compete on, not the christians)
And the Shia of HA thrive on lawlessness anyway, so the pals being armed falls right into their strategy of undermining Lebanon's sovereignty.
This leaves the christians as the only patriots...

How about "The right to stay alive and live secular""

Missing peace 10 years

how about asking the people of Lebanon what they think of this fake "resistance"?
