Geagea Hits Back at Berri, Syria's Miqdad: Lebanon Won't Return to Syria, Not Vise Versa

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Monday hit back at Speaker Nabih Berri and Syria's deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad.

"Lebanon will not return to Syrian hands," and not vise versa, Geagea told Radio Free Lebanon.

"Lebanon is a free, independent sovereign state," he stressed, adding that "what happened 30 years ago is unlikely to happen now."

"Fire will not ignite in Lebanon due to the awareness of the various political leaders," Geagea told Miqdad.

Turning to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Geagea said "anything is acceptable" from Berri.

"March 8 camp, however, is the one crippling Government," he said.

Berri on Monday accused the majority March 14 alliance of crippling Government.

Geagea said there is a possibility to hold a Cabinet meeting this week.
