Syrian Killed, Several Injured in Brief Clashes at Burj al-Barajneh Refugee Camp

W300

A female Syrian refugee was killed and several were injured in clashes that erupted on Monday between two groups linked to Fatah movement at Burj al-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut's southern suburbs.

The state-run National News Agency reported that the clashes broke out after the supporters of Mohammed Ghdeiyeh set on fire a motorcycle that belongs to Hekmat Akar, the leader of the second group.

Several were injured among them the brother of Akar.

NNA said that machinguns and rocket-propelled grenades were used in the battle.

Unknown assailants had also opened fire at an ambulance moving a wounded person from Akar family to Haifa hospital at the camp.

His family reportedly banned the ambulance from moving him to a hospital outside the camp as he is wanted on several arrest warrants.

The news agency said that the supporters of the two factions are on alert at the camp.

Is it not high time to ask our dear guest to start packing and leave our country? Can you imagine, a refugee in armed clashes on our soil? Then all these camps on Lebanese soil, should we not give the lands to build housing estates and everything else for our people? There are many refugee camps in Lebanon, they should be emptied and razed to the floor, then let's build for the Lebanese. We have thousands of our youth who want to marry and make families of their own, but because of expensive and shortage of convenient housing, they can't marry but leave the country. Let's have instead Housing Estates well built and give them to our youths, also to the army, and allow them to pay over a period of 30 years. Refugees are a complete waste of our time and resources, and they cause us wars, as we've seen before, and NOW!!

I agree, but where do we send them?

FD, anywhere, KSA, Iran, Syria, I care less, they've all been championing their cause, well, now is the time for them to make good on their sentiments, don't you agree. ?

Sure phoenix be my guest, and ill help you. But lets see any of those countries take them. Theyll start a war against us and refuse. They must go back to their home, and that means the end of the exclusivist racist state to the south that rejects them based on their race. The root of the problem, as we always try to argue on here :)

FD of course I see your point, which is why my aim in this thread is to expose the hypocrisy of those who claim to make of the Palestinian issue their quest and cause, the second point being the hypocrisy of the Lebanese whom it seems feel that by keeping the Palestinian on our soil will benefit from the demographics of their presence. Sadly this trend is now being perpetuated with the Syrian presence by all concerned. However all these calculations are wrong, demographics don't weigh much, thus now economics as Shokinireh correctly pointed out are the main factor, and this is where I see my people first and refugees out of my land. I am Lebanese and its Lebanese that count for me.

Everyday I open Naharnet in the hope to see Syrian Regugees get out of Lebanon!

Syrians have outstayed they're welcome. Syrians are not welcome anymore! Go to Jordan, anywhere! Lebanon CANNOT support Syrians roaming around. The army, our brave soldiers, have a lot on their hands, but eventually should start putting checkpoints to expel any Syrian refugee.
