Charbel: I'll Oppose Resistance Arms if Army Becomes Well-equipped

W300

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel on Sunday said “Hizbullah’s arms won’t be a problem anymore if we lay out a (national) defense strategy.”

In an interview with Radio Orient, Charbel added that Lebanon could benefit from these weapons within the framework of such a strategy.

“If you want to remove Hizbullah’s arms, you have two choices: force or consensus. Should it be taken away by force, a problem will erupt in Lebanon, that’s why we should discuss the issue around the dialogue table, in line with President Michel Suleiman’s call,” the minister noted.

“I will oppose the Resistance’s arms if I feel that the Lebanese army has become properly equipped, and if we manage to provide it with all the ammunition and weapons needed to protect all the Lebanese,” Charbel stressed.

Separately, the minister said Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea’s latest remarks on the security situation in the country contained “a lot of exaggeration,” noting that “political division is behind all the remarks we’re hearing nowadays.”

no one cares for your opinion. you are a follower of these iranians, thus what you say is only a replica of what they say.

Please change your name. Charbel is a most honorable saint and sir you are not. Your argument does not hold water, as you say taking arms from HA can be done by force or politics, that does not have anything to do with the defense of all the Lebanese or the strength of the army, it only has to do with having a monkey with a gun and his use of the gun is unpredictable. We know you are a politician but not a very smart one.

The Army will never be equipped since a strong army means weak sectarian presence, less foreign intervention and true Lebanese sovereignty....Moreover, until the Army becomes fully operational and ready to defend Lebanon against any aggression we might need to wait at least 10 years....
So if......

The army will not be allowed to be well equipped so that Huzb Allah remains stronger than the military and continues to control the country.

the zionist entity wants our glorious resistance to give weapons to the army so that their airplanes can hit them in the process.

4. Those accusing others of being in the "Zionist War Information Department" are most definitely part of the Persian Propaganda Network.

How to decode encrypted Naharnet messages:

1. If someone states a religion in their nickname, 90% of the time it means they are not from that religious sect. (i.e. Hezbollah supporters posting as "Sunni" and "Christian")

2. There are at way more Persian Propagandists than Zionist Propagandists on this website. Being pro-M14 does not make someone pro-Zionist, but being pro-M8 requires being pro-Syria and pro-Iran. I dare anyone to name one exception to this statement. Just look at the about-face made by the clown of FPM.

3. The Persian Propagandists are trying to sway opinion and to discredit M14 leaders. What is the motivation for Mowaten, Bigidiot, Jabelamel and MrNoBrain to spend so much time on a M14-leaning website, other than for propaganda? The Zionists would likely be spending more time on Al Manure than on Naharnet. There have been Israelis posting messages here that do not deny they are Israeli, but we never see those posting pro-Iranian messages as being Iranian. Why?

Everyone should make Jabal Amel a favour: Don't chat to him. That will force him to go back to school and expand his vocabulary beyond , the 3 or four words he learned in his cot: filthy, war department, israeli, and resistance.

The ONLY tactic of the Persian Propaganda Department........ accusing all others of being Zionists.

Jabal's line of " zionist war department" is getting REALLY OLD.

Frankly, I listened to the interview and he spoke okay. Maybe I dont agree with his comments regarding the LF's recent stances, but all in all, as long as he actually APPLIES what he's preaching, its not fair to blindly attack him. I doubt he can apply any of it, but at least his speech was not inflammatory or accusatory (apart from his last comment regarding LF)

Another tool... a useless politician serving the interests of a soon to be kicked out dictator and narrow minded ayatollahs, who dont give a flying shoe about the people of Lebanon, and our problems. Mr Charbel, we need the army to protect us from the resistance, the resistance that steals OUR land, OUR property, OUR cars, traffics in drugs, uses grenades to settle disputes, assassinates leaders, and have full time employees making irrelevant comments here. At the end the day we need an arab spring in Lebanon or a new militia to counter our current situation.

Nooo keep their weapons please!

We are starving for a new victory! five years passed after the last divine victory and we are awaiting to rise again in the air the "V", divine symbol of our power!

And the two millions peoples of the South are bored; they need to make forced tourism in gardens and schools!

So keep our weapons please, it is not the dearest wish of our zionist neighbours?

Thumb jabalamel over 12 years

i know you zionists are starving for a new victory.

1967 was a long ago, in 1973 only US air force saved you on egyptian side, and lebanon turned into disaster.

since than you know defeat only and will continue to be so.

Well equiped army for what? We simply do not have enough money to spend on our army year after year to face off with Israel. what we need is a peace treaty with Israel that would include return all of the disputed land and solving the gas & sea issue. Nothing short of that will give us prosperity. For Gods sake even the Paletinians are looking for peace why not Lebanon? Why do we have to be the last country to sign a peace treaty with Israel?

Thumb jabalamel over 12 years

eli...let's assume that you are not from zionist information war department

you say even palestinians is looking for peace.
AND WHAT DID THEY GET??? Ok, let's ignore Gaza for now and concentrate on west bank where "moderate" Fatah rules.

more zionist settlements, more stolen land and more bombs, imprisoment, massacres. And wall. And no Jerusalem. And no refugees return including more than 400 000 in Lebanon.

you want peace with that? you can trust that?

one single reminder to all: we are Arabs, and as such Irnians have no say in our affairs.
hizbullah go back to iran where you all belong.

Default-user-icon Marquis (Guest) over 12 years

Dear Jabal, i have a comment to make knowing that i am not a zionist neither you are a syrian slave.
We fighted christians, muslims, druzes, syrians, israelis, american, palestinians during 15 years of bloody wars.... and we know very well that the sionist are annexing systematically palestinian territories since 1948 and that they annexed half of jerusalem and there won't be peace before they got enough. Everybody agrees on this even hezbollah haters.
But you should understand that the palestinian cause you're talking about is not ours anymore. We cannot remain the sewage of the middle east where every shit has to pass through us. We cannot alone fight for the palestinian while the whole world, and in first place syria and iran, are just spectators.
Lets care about our own problems and stop linking our fate to that of the palestinian and golan! Otherwise we will always be a pray for the israeli who can destroy our infrastructure in 2 hours, and u know this.
