Bassil Says 'Strong Flank' Lebanon Prevented 'Syria's Fall'

W300

Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil announced Monday that Lebanon “prevented the fall” of Syria, which has been witnessing a bloody conflict since around four years, as he stressed that Damascus must not interfere in the Lebanese affairs.

“It is our duty not to betray or stab Syria, because no matter how much circumstances change, Syria will remain our close neighbor, seeing as we have the scourge of Israel on the other side of the border,” said Bassil in a speech before Lebanese expats at the Arab Social Club in the Venezuelan city of Maturin.

“We don't have much choices, we're obliged to be like this,” the minister, who was wrapping up a Latin America tour, added.

Lebanon's Hizbullah has been fighting alongside the embattled Syrian regime for around two years now against armed opposition groups and jihadist militants. It is currently engaged in a key battle in the triangle of territory linking Daraa, Quneitra and the southwest of Damascus provinces.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has several times announced that his group will not allow “Syria's fall,” describing its regime as a key backer of the party's resistance against Israel.

Bassil added: “We're obliged to think this way, so that Syria does not ... return to thinking of us in this manner and so that it doesn't think of entering our country again to protect its perceived weak flank.”

“No, Lebanon is Syria's strong flank, and we prevented Syria's fall,” the minister went on to say.

However he noted that the Lebanese must not interfere in Syria's affairs “the same as we don't want Syria to meddle in our affairs.”

Bassil also warned that “the waves of evil, terrorism and takfirism are enormous and we won't be able to face them if we are not united.”

What a disgrace!

So now the Foreign Minister considers Lebanon merely a flank of the butcher dictator regime, and also subordinate to a foreign militia controlled by the Ayatollah.

Aligning Lebanon with the dictator who sends indiscriminate barrel bombs on his own civilian population, and also gases them with chemical weapons is very detrimental.

Let's face it, this is a sectarian society: Assad and his sect represents 10% of the population in Syria, the Sunnis represent 80% of the population in Syria. What side should we be on?

“It is our duty not to betray or stab Syria, because no matter how much circumstances change, Syria will remain our close neighbor” said Bassil

This the FPM. After 30 years of occupation, torture, and whimsical arrests by the Syrian regime, the FPM still believes they should not betray Syria. Shameless .... Shameless.... Shameless!

Southern - it was your beloved butcher regime and the Hizb that enabled ISIS. You and Bassel support a monster whose poison will be with us for a long time. That selfish criminal could have avoided this whole mess by doing the right thing, step aside and allow for a free and democratic government. But no: Bashar or let the country burn!

Southern, Syria had a legitimate Democratic Rebellion before Bashar unleached the Takfiris to create the current situation of Asaad or Lunatics.
Also, what is Bassil talking about when he says "... Bassil added: “We're obliged to think this way, so that Syria does not ... return to thinking of us in this manner and so that it doesn't think of entering our country again to protect its perceived weak flank....”? Syria moved in on dayt one masked as Al-Saeqa to qweaken what was then A Strong Lebanese Flank. Asaad always armed its proxies in Lebanon in an ongoing effort to weaken the Lebanese State. Heck Asaad's do not even approve of the existence of a strong and independent Lebanese State. Basil is an idiot.

What's the scale in this photo, surely it is not 1:1. It looks like Bassil is half the size of a normal human being.
