Report: More Lebanese to be Deported from UAE
More Lebanese expats are expected to be expelled from the United Arab Emirates in the upcoming weeks, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Monday.
Sources following up the conditions of the Lebanese community in UAE quoted officials as saying that the deportation decision will include 120 Lebanese nationals in the upcoming weeks.
UAE's decision to deport Lebanese expats from the Gulf country is reportedly related to their staunch support to Hizbullah and its allies.
On Sunday, several Lebanese deported from UAE arrived in Beirut for the second day in a row.
Most of the expats have been residing in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
The move reportedly is to retaliate a speech by Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah which contained a strong attack against countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Dubai's ruler and vice president of UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed al-Maktoum stressed on Saturday during talks with Prime Minister Tammam Salam on the sidelines of an economic conference in Sharm el-Sheikh that there is no official decision to target Lebanese in the Gulf country.
UAE hosts more than 100,000 Lebanese workers.
Hundreds of Lebanese, mostly Shiite Muslims, have been quietly deported from the UAE since 2009. Deportations of Shiites from oil-rich Gulf states rose in 2013 after Hizbullah joined Syrian government forces in Syria's civil war.

I think Hozbollah should form a black-shirt brigade in the UAE as well in order to terrorize people. Better still, they should launch a wave of explosive cars there. It's their signature retaliation method.

the UAE is preserving itself. what is wrong in doing so? does anyone expect to go work there while constantly attacking that country for hosting them?
some people are blind: hear what your leaders are saying about the Gulf countries. if you hate the Gulf countries: do not go there in the first place. if you do not want to respect a country, why should that country let you in to work and live there?

I am afraid dear FT, your idea will only make more miserable people around because A, it won't be the government that will instigate nor do it but Hezbollah, and that my dear friend will mean more Shiites without bread-winers. There are times when it's best all round to accept the reality of a situation.

I wonder if Lebanon had a president. he could intervene with the UAE president to abort the deportation of hard working Lebanese trying to make a living and support their families. There are precedents when the president intervened with other heads of state to resolve issues of national interest. This is one instance of many many more when the president is missed.

A rule of thumb, read a report in al-Akhbar think the opposite is almost always the truth, "More Lebanese to be Deported from UAE" al-Akhbar newspaper reported, turns out there were less deported than first reported!
