Hand Injury Rules Mexes Out of Roma Clash

AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes' return to action following a six-month spell on the sidelines has been curtailed due to a hand injury that will rule the France international out for a week.

It means Mexes will not be able to play in Saturday's clash with former club Roma, with whom he spent seven seasons.

"Philippe hurt himself in training," said Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri.

"It doesn't look much but he's been diagnosed with a micro-fracture. He'll be out for a week."

After spending six months recovering from ligament damage to his right knee, Mexes returned to action for Milan when he played the last five minutes against BATE Borisov in the Champions League two weeks ago.
