Report: Jumblat re-Confirmed his Centrist Position with Tilt towards March 14

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat confirmed on Sunday his centrist position with a clear tilt towards the March 14-led opposition, An Nahar newspaper reported.

“Jumblat was a forerunner in specifying the principles and the roadmap concerning the situation in Syria,” sources told the daily on Monday.

On Sunday, Jumblat chaired the PSP’s general assembly in Aley.

The sources added that Jumblat “confirmed his stance from Hizbullah’s arms.”

According to al-Liwaa, Jumblat’s stances will affect both the March 8 and March 14 camps.

Jumblat said in his speech that the funding of the STL is “essential” for stability in the country.

The PSP leader announced that he will not compete for the PSP leadership when elections are next held.

The sources told An Nahar that “he wants to modernize the party by ending political heredity.”

However, a source from the party told al-Liwaa that some party members refused the talk about ending the political heredity because Jumblat “represents a sentimental symbol for the party, and because the party needs him at this critical stage.”

Yes a good speech, but too little too late! True M14 has failed in upholding Cedar Revolution principles and promoting transparent democracy and civil liberties protected by energized youth movements. But you have stabbed these principles in the back and threw Lebanon to the wolves by being instrumental in allowing a criminal organization and a criminal regime to impose their government on Lebanon gradually eroding our freedom, democracy and liberties; and transforming our economy into Syrian/Iranian style failed system managed by corrupt government agencies controlled by political mafia. The damage you have caused in one year will take generations to fix. You talk of a Lebanese Spring but brought us a Lebanese Winter blowing from the torture chambers of Assad and Ahmadinajad where reformers are locked. Thanks but no Thanks! First apologize for you actions, then distance yourself from HizbIran, the Basij and Syrian criminal regime then someone may be interested in listening to you!

It looks like the "right cause" for some is not so right-a-cause for the creep they cannot wait to welcome back. But then what can you do with a bunch of desperate losers? Any creep is always welcome, BUT PLEASE COME!!! Right cause, huh! Get your brains fixed, creeps.

@ MUSTAPHA, you may have touched on a valid point. I believe Mr. Jumblat's behavior and resulting stances are directly linked to how fearful he is for his life, who threatened him and whether or not he can defend himself successfully against that threat. Of course money also plays a part, just like with any other politician.

Though he may very well be sincere, he is, always was and will continue to be, unreliable, because his personal interests outweigh the principal that is Lebanon is FIRST.
