Army Stages Raids in Hermel, Searches for Corporal al-Qaq Killers
After the killing incident of army Corporal Ali al-Qaq on Monday, the Lebanese Army Airborne Regiment stormed several homes at dawn on Tuesday in the border town of al-Qasr in northeast of the Hermel district in search for the culprits, the National News Agency reported.
The army said the homes stormed in al-Qasr were of people suspected of involvement in the death of Qaq, who was gunned down while on vacation in Syria.
Two individuals suspected of being involved in the incident were arrested. The army confiscated military weapons and ammunition, NNA said.
At night, army troops patrolled the area and intensified security measures as they set temporary checkpoints.
A military source who spoke on condition of anonymity, told LBCI the army will take the needed measures and will track down the perpetrators to hand them over to justice.
Media reports said al-Qaq was involved in killing a member of a major clan in eastern Lebanon, Hani Jaafar, three months ago.
The army said al-Qaq was shot dead while visiting the Damascus suburb of Sayida Zeinab, which is home to a major Shiite shrine. It has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

We can say sectarian this or that. The reality is certain sects, tend to have certain trends. Not all people of that sect. But certain actions are disproportionate or have a probability of occurring. We can pretend this is not the case but I have posted a few times over the years certain questions asking about the past 20 years when certain types of actions have happened in certain sects, and all that I heard was crickets. Until we can all be honest about these issues, where they occur, and why they occur then nothing will get fixed. In this part of the country, Hermel, the large clans feel they are above the law because of the Hezbollah support. Whether they are official card carrying members is a moot point, but they are supporters and exhibit arrogance above the law, period. Are they better than ISIS and takfiri? Probably, but do they get a cookie for that?
