General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim has pledged that “there will be leniency with terrorism or the Israeli enemy.”

“I'm fully confident that you know the extent of our sacrifices in General Security, together with the rest of the security institutions, to safeguard our country,” Ibrahim said during a ceremony that was thrown in his honor in Angola.

General Security had announced in late January the arrest of two Lebanese men, two Nepalese women and a Palestinian man on charges of “spying for Israeli embassies abroad.”

The investigations revealed that the two Nepalese detainees were actively recruiting Nepalese domestic workers in Lebanon with the aim of spying for Israel.

The agency has also announced the busting of several cells linked to the terrorist Islamic State group in recent months.
