Lebanese Authorities Detain Syrian Funding Militant Group

A Syrian national suspected of transferring money to Jabhat Fatah al-Sham militant group in Syria has been arrested in south Lebanon, the National News Agency reported on Friday.

Lebanese authorities in the south have detained Ahmed al-Issa in the southern district of Tyre, NNA said.

They confiscated sums of money in his possession that he had collected from Syrians residing in Lebanon with plans of transferring them to Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, in Syria, NNA said.

NNA added that the suspect had confessed to the charges and said he had made several transfers before to the said group.

He was referred to the Lebanese Army Intelligence.
