Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced Thursday that he is optimistic that an agreement on a new electoral law will be reached soon, while stressing the importance of “reaching an equation that ensures correct representation.”

“We are not in a confrontation with any political group and what's important is to reach an equation that ensures correct representation,” said Hariri after talks with President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Palace.

“We're working 24/24 on the file of the electoral law because this is the main priority, and I'm optimistic that things will reach a happy ending,” Hariri added.

He also said that his stance aims to “press all political parties in order to prevent extension” of parliament's term.
