Armed Clashes Resume in Ain el-Hilweh after Calm Night

Armed clashes renewed on Saturday in the southern Palestinian Refugee Camp of Ain el-Hilweh, heavy gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades were heard, the National News Agency reported.

The fighting intensified in al-Fawqani street, NNA said.

A bomb grenade accompanied by heavy gunfire shooting and intermittent rocket propelled grenades were heard.

The camp had witnessed a relatively calm night, said NNA.

The fighting began Thursday evening when an armed group affiliated to fugitive Bilal Abou Arqoub opened fire at the Joint Palestinians Security Forces center in the camp.

One man, identified as Obaida the son of Bilal Abu Arqoub, was killed and eight others were wounded.

A member of the Joint Palestinians Forces, Abu Ali Talal, who was wounded in Thursday's fight succumbed to his wounds on Friday.

Ain el-Hilweh is the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, and it is the scene of regular clashes.
