Three Suspects Injured in Army Search for Abducted Saudi in Bekaa
The Lebanese army carried out raids in Baalbek in the Bekaa valley that included an exchange of gunfire in search for a Saudi national kidnapped a day earlier, media reports said on Saturday.
Army members staged raids in the town of Dar al-Wasaa that escalated into an exchange of fire with the suspects leaving three injured, reports said.
A Saudi man was kidnapped on Friday in the Keserwan region amid political tensions with Saudi Arabia.
LBCI said that the abductee, Ali Abdul Nabi al-Bashrawi, was kidnapped after dropping his wife off at their house in Adma on Thursday evening and parked his Saudi-plate, white BMW at the Tabarja roundabout before being kidnapped at the hands of unknown individuals from a nearby area.
The TV station added that the captors are demanding $1.5 million in return for goods that he had bought from them.
Quoting probe sources, the TV network said the case is likely linked to drug trade.
The incident came on the same day that Saudi Arabia ordered its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately amid skyrocketing tensions with Iran and Hizbullah and warnings to the Lebanese government.

منذ السادسة صباحاً، تقوم قوى من فوج المغاوير في الجيش بعملية دهم واسعة في بلدة دار الواسعة البقاعية بحثاً عن السعودي المخطوف.

ولاحقاً، أعلنت قيادة الجيش، في بيان، أنّ "وحدات من فوج المغاوير في الجيش نفذت عمليات دهم وملاحقة مطلوبين في منطقة دار الواسعة - البقاع، حيث ضبطت كمية كبيرة من المواد المخدرة وعدد من الأسلحة الحربية والذخائر العائدة لها والأعتدة العسكرية، وقد تعرضت هذه الوحدات أثناء تنفيذ مهماتها، لإطلاق نار من قبل المطلوبين فردت على مصادر النيران بالمثل ما أدى إلى إصابة 3 منهم، فيما تتابع قوى الجيش عمليات الدهم لتوقيف المطلوبين وضبط الممنوعات وقمع المخالفات".
وعلمت "النهار" أن العسكري "ح م" استشهد نتيجة المداهمات.
