Report: Bassil Offers Jad Sawaya 'Senior Post' to Withdraw from Elections
Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil has offered the candidate for the Greek Catholic seat in Jezzine Jad Sawaya a “senior post” in return for withdrawing from the electoral race, a media report said.
“Bassil made his offer to Sawaya in a meeting that gathered them with the MPs Amal Abu Zeid and Ziad Aswad, the head of the union of Jezzine's municipalities Khalil Harfoush and FPM's Jezzine coordinator Antoine Farhat,” MTV reported.
“Under the proposal, Sawaya would get a senior post in return for withdrawing his nomination, after he proved that his electoral strength poses a threat to one of the Maronite candidates on FPM's list. Sawaya has asked for 24 hours to give an answer,” the TV network added.

Or they can just get him a job in New York City and follow the example of the other Greek Catholic Sawaya. The current MP Issam Sawaya was elected MPs on FPM's list in 2009. He spent the whole time, including both extensions, living and working in NYC where his full time job is to runs a travel agency with his brother. The ongoing joke among FPM rank and file in Jezzine is that the late MP Michel Helou, after he passed away, had a better attendance record than Issam Sawaya.
