French Airport Security Staff to Continue Strike

Security staff at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport voted to continue a strike on Monday, four days after officials sent in police to ensure their action did not hit holiday travel.

Around 200 striking workers voted in favor of continuing the pay dispute in a show of hands at a meeting at the airport.

President Nicolas Sarkozy said last Wednesday that the government would use "all necessary measures" to ensure the French holiday season was not "taken hostage" by the strike action.

A day later police were deployed to work alongside non-striking security workers to check passengers and baggage.

The industrial action has so far had a limited impact on international flights, with only some minor delays reported.

An airport spokesman said air traffic was running normally Monday morning.
