Getting Even with Sunni MPs of March 8, Hobeish Proposes Creation of Christian Bloc

W300

Al-Mustaqbal Movement MP Hadi Hobeish said to get even with demands of the so-called independent Sunni MPs of March 8 to be represented in the Cabinet, he suggested the creation of a bloc of Christian MPs from different political parties in retaliation.

“Since demands for representation in the government are being proposed from a sectarian angle, I have suggested that a bloc of Christian MPs be formed in response,” said Hobeish of PM-designate Saad Hariri’s Mustaqbal Movement.

The new cabinet was on the verge of formation on Monday after the Lebanese Forces accepted the portfolios that were assigned to it but a last-minute hurdle over the representation of the so-called independent Sunni MPs has surfaced.

Hizbullah has thrown its weight behind the MPs' demand and refrained from providing Hariri with the names of its own ministers in a bid to press him to accept giving a seat to the aforementioned Sunni grouping.

President Michel Aoun has stressed on Wednesday that he backs Hariri who rejects the Sunni MPs demands.

Hobeish said Aoun’s supportive position is “normal” because the government formation standards were coordinated by the two men.

100% agree. This was the most stupid suggestion ever! What has christians to do with this? Even Aoun has voiced his opinion against this so-called "sunni independent block" that wasnt even a block at the time of the election. So punish Aoun, punish LF???...when everybody knows the problem is made in Iran...

You beat me to it ET but you're comments will fall of deaf ears. This guy suffers from truthiness a word invented by Stephen Colbert meaning "the belief or assertion that a particular statement is true based on the intuition or perceptions of some individual or individuals, without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts. Truthiness can range from ignorant assertions of falsehoods to deliberate duplicity or propaganda intended to sway opinions"

Why wasn't this committee formed after 1990? Between 1990 and 2005 the Christians were oppressed by the Syrian occupations and tutelage. So they were not the ones obstructing it's formation. The country was controlled either directly from Damascus, from Anjar or by their most trusted minion Jamil Al-Sayyed. They appointed the Presidents, fired the PMs, appointed cabinet members, decided on elections laws etc. Since May 7 2008 the country has been controlled by Hezbollah's guns. Nothing happens without their green light. No president can be elected, no election law approved, no government formed, without their approval. Nasrallah even barged that he appointed the PM in 2011. And still no committee. Syrian/Hezballah appointee Nabih Berri threatens with it from time to time but that's it. I wonder why. You should as well.

He's obviously joking and talking about parliamentary blocks. There's only one Shiite MP outside the Amal and HA blocks he can hardly form a block by himself like you propose. What this guy's proposing is a Christian block similar to the fake Sunni block created by HA from MPs that are already members of other block. Because there are enough Christian MPs outside FPM and LF they can form a block if they wanted.
