The government held a regular meeting at Baabda Palace to discuss eleven items on its agenda mainly tackling a draft law on capital control, the electricity file and economic and financial issues, the National News Agency reported on Thursday.

The ministers will discuss the capital control draft law aimed at the regulation and setting exceptional temporary controls on some operations and banking services, said NNA.

Lebanon's problematic electricity file which pushed Lebanon to its financial collapse will also be discussed.

The meeting is chaired by President Michel Aoun in the presence of PM Hassan Diab and the ministers.

The Cabinet will also discuss the progress on Lebanon’s oil exploration.

The first deepwater exploration operations for oil and gas started on block 4 in February raising hopes for a future boost to the country's crumbling economy.

Aoun and Diab held a closed-door meeting before the convention.
