The Cabinet on Tuesday approved four “instant measures” for combating corruption and recovering funds, the information minister said.

She added that another cabinet session will be held Wednesday to put the “final touches” on the government's financial plan.

As for the spike in the prices of commodities, the minister, Manal Abdul Samad, said the Economy Ministry is taking “a host of measures.”

“The issue of dollar is linked to the central bank's monetary policy and the government will have a role in this,” she added.

As for the protesters that have returned strongly to the streets, Abdul Samad said “the situation on the streets has exceeded the limits of legitimate demands,” claiming that there are “some infiltrators” among the protesters.

LBCI television meanwhile said that "the Cabinet decided to reschedule the clauses of Justice Minister Marie-Claude Najem's anti-corruption paper while approving other clauses.”

“Discussions over the clauses related to illicit enrichment will continue in a session that will be held Thursday in Baabda,” the TV network added.

Najem said the paper is “not targeted against any political group.”

“These clauses do not need legislation because they are administrative clauses that can be implemented directly and the first stage of investigations will tackle the past ten years,” the minister added.
