U.S. Ambassador Affirms Support for Lebanon Reforms
US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea affirmed support for the government’s reform program during talks with President Michel Aoun in Baabda, the Lebanese Presidency said on Thursday.
The Presidency said, Shea affirmed that the United States of America supports the reform steps undertaken by Lebanon in order to be able to overcome the financial economic crisis it is suffering.
Aoun and Shea discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Lebanon is facing an unprecedented economic and financial crisis that have seen many Lebanese slide into poverty.
The government adopted an economic recovery plan, pledging to implement significant reforms. It entered talks with the International Monetary Fund, seeking to unlock billions of dollar in aid.

Israel's senior rabble-rouser, the president of the pseudo-state, said two days ago that Hezbullah would be held responsible for any combat in or with Lebanon. The only reform that is possible in Lebanon is the enfranchisement of the Shia majority and the only way this can take immediate effect is if Hezbullah wants the job of converting a lawless situation into a state. That terrifies Israel, because law empowers all people. Today's orchestrated drop on financial markets in Germany, France, England, and the US, as if all graphs were charting the same earthquake, was the response to Trump's annexation trap: if Netanyahu reneges, he's done, but if he goes forward, international Jewish support is done, and so is Israel, then. Not an earthquake: the charts look like someone turning a dial. Time for some new faces on Wall Street. Israel is paralyzed. Lebanon's decision is being made by whoever wants to get involved. A state is being born.
