Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani will arrive in Lebanon at 5pm Tuesday on a one-day official visit, the Qatari embassy said on Monday.

The minister will hold separate meetings with President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, the embassy added in a statement.

Earlier in the day, the Qatari government-funded Al-Jazeera TV said the visit is “part of Qatar’s efforts to help resolve the political crisis in Lebanon.”

Qatar’s ruling emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, had in February urged Lebanon’s political parties to put the national interest first and speed up the formation of a new government.

The emir voiced his remarks during a meeting with Hariri in Doha.
