Bassil Slams Labor Minister Decision to Allow Palestinians to Work in Lebanon

W300

Free Patriotic Movement head Jebran Bassil tweeted Thursday that the decision by the labor minister to allow Palestinians and the unregistered individuals to practice dozens of professions is "illegal."

"The decision violates the Labor Law and the Constitution," Bassil said.

"It is veiled naturalization and it is rejected," the MP added.

Bassil called on the labor syndicates to reject it before the State Council, and on the Lebanese to refuse to comply with it.

"This is unacceptable and we will not allow stealing the jobs from the Lebanese in such circumstances,” Bassil decried.

Labor Minister Mostafa Bayram later affirmed that "the decision is not against the law," and that he has taken it based on his "powers" as a minister.

He said that "the ethical aspect and the economical benefit are the two motives for the decision," stressing that "the humanitarian side was one of the main motives."

What difference does it make if a Palestinian without lebanese citizenship is allowed to work in lebanon when Palestinians were given lebanese citizenship in large numbers since the 40:s and have been working in lebanon? He is just trying to score some points with his low class followers. "Stealing the jobs", look at his language. You can't steal a job, either the employer gives it to you or he/she doesn't. If he only wants lebanese to work then start by taking away the citizenship of all the people who have family origins outside of lebanon and ban them from work. Go ahead and tell the Akkawis, Safadis, Nabulsis, Ghazzaouis, Maqdisis, Homsis, Halabis, Shamis, Armenians, Assyrians etc that they can't work anymore. Zbeleh logic.

A man / woman who has to getup early in the morning to get ready for work and gets home late in the evening after a hard days work, and at the end of the month brings home a decent salary to feed his wife and children, won't have the time or the will to think about carrying out terrorist acts.
