Berri lashes out at 'suspicious' sedition stirrers

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday warned against “sedition stirrers,” during a meeting in Msayleh with a delegation from the al-Kraydin Arab tribes.

“Love of homeland is part of religious faith and sedition stirrers under any circumstances, be it in elections time or not, are suspicious in their national and even religious belonging,” Berri said.

“Sedition and its instigators are cursed in all Abrahamic religions, and sedition’s results only serve the interest of Israel, which has been and will always be the enemy of Lebanon and Arabs, be them Muslim or Christian,” the Speaker added.

Undermining racism is sedition, eh? Political privileges given to a religious class, like Article 24 of the Lebanese Constitution assigning half of parliamentary seats to Christians, is racism. Racism is not biological. Biologically, we are all one race, and subdivisions are impossible to define rigorously. Racism is classism, but I like to put it like this: racism is the belief (?)(or is it despair speaking?) that there is more than one human race. I suppose the term should then be "races-ism".
