Fog Hands Vonn Super-Combined Globe

American ski superstar Lindsey Vonn won her second World Cup globe in two days in Sochi on Sunday after she was crowned super-combined champion when the event was cancelled because of fog.

The 27-year-old Vonn, who on Saturday won her fifth successive downhill globe, was winning her third successive title in the discipline which disappears from the women's calendar next season.

Her victory comes after the event was raced just twice during the season.

The 2010 Olympic downhill champion looks all but certain to win the overall World Cup title too as she leads Tina Maze of Slovenia by 448 points.

Vonn said she had mixed feelings over winning the title without racing.

"I'm really happy with the decision (to cancel) because safety is the most important thing," she said.

"You never want to have a title clinched with a cancelled race.

"I had it happen to me at the World Cup Finals last year with the overall globe and I've won a super combined title with a cancelled race."

Vonn, though, expressed her delight with the piste itself and said she looked forward to defending her Olympic title and challenging for others on the slopes in 2014.

"I feel comfortable on this hill and I had a chance to get another look at how the super G would potentially run.

"I feel ready for the Olympics and I'm psyched about this hill."

Meanwhile, the women's World Cup giant slalom initially scheduled for Courchevel, France, and then Soldeu, Andorra, but hit by weather conditions will now take place in Ofterschwang, Germany on March 2, the International Ski Federation (FIS) said.
