Jumblat: Resistance in Lebanon Must Join the Syrian People’s Resistance

W300

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat saluted on Monday the Syrian people in their ongoing uprising against the ruling regime.

He noted in his weekly editorial in the PSP-affiliated al-Anbaa magazine: “The resistance in Lebanon must join the Syrian people’s resistance against the regime.”

He made his remarks without offering further details.

He continued by praising “the Syrian National Council for successfully asserting itself at the ‘Friends of Syria’ conference and for imposing itself as the inevitable substitute for the ruling regime.”

“If only Russia, which has repeatedly stood by the Arab people, would speed up efforts to get rid of the ruling family in Syria in order to save the Syrian people,” the MP added.

“On the occasion of Land Day, we must remember the struggles of the Palestinian people, who have lived for decades under oppression without surrendering their legitimate national and political rights,” Jumblat stressed.

“The Palestinian people are seeking to bolster their internal unity, which remains as the only way to combat the Israeli occupation that has taken advantage of Palestinian divisions that were long fed by Arab and regional axes that have promoted slogans of defiance to the occupation,” he declared.

“On the occasion of Land Day, we also have to salute the Palestinian refugees, starting with those residing in Lebanon who have long suffered from unjustified Lebanese and chauvinistic discrimination,” noted the Druze chief.

“In Palestine, the Israeli occupation has confiscated land, destroyed homes, and killed the Palestinian people, while in Syria, the regime has confiscated land, destroyed homes, and killed the Syrian people,” stated Jumblat.

It's a startling reality that the Syrian people and the Lebanese people are almost one nations in 2 countries. We share everything" from language, tradition and family ties. We suffer when they suffer and we become happy when they are happy. At this time the people of Syria are suffering and so do we because we feel that all the men, women and children that are paying the price of freedom in blood are heros. Standing by them is a must, whether physically or mentally. I applaud Jumblat on his bold stance. Stay the course Walid, we all love you for who you are. God bless you.

With all respect, geha, how do you know that? Are you a fly on the wall when Russia and America speak with each other? What are your sources or is it just that your hoping its that way because that is what you want to happen? Simple speculation.

Walid, you lost a lot of credibility when you decided to distant yourself from March 14,good like in your new adventure, however one can not help but admire the courage the Druze displayed (May 7)against the tyrant Hezbullah.I wish you are consistence in your belief.

Jumblat has been to Russia. He knows more than the rest of us but not because he is smarter or worthy of being held in confidence. He keeps shooting off his mouth. Why? He must have received some kind of guarantees from the CIA/Americans which assure his family protection. When all is said and done and the dust settles from the Arab Spring , Libya, Egypt, Syria ,Yemen and Lebanon will all be set back 20 years. Minorities will lose rights and look to emigrate. Israel will be stronger. Druze will lose too. Though not Jumblat personally.

Can anyone find someone who can stuff a big old rotten shoe in his mouth? Every time he opens his mouth all of the decent Lebanese and even all of the decent people who understand Arabic get noxious and start throwing up in disgust.

NO ! Hezbollah needs Assad. Jumblat see's the inevitable and is playing into the hands of the SNC. Hezbollah moving to support the SNC is as unlikely as me participating in the Beirut marathon, although I do try to keep fit.

Intervention in Syria is a numbers game. If there was money to be made/saved (i.e. from the stock markets), foreign countries would have already intervened, but there is no oil in Syria, which means "eff" all money :)

Instead, I think they've done a number of lifes cost analysis. If they don't intervene, less people will die, then if they do intervene and the massive amount of consequent uncertainty.

Just look at Jumblat's bold head, he looks so wise, but from his eyes, you can't trust this G.
