Jumblat’s Sources Warn against Proportionality as his Rivals Slam ‘Majority Maker’

W300

Sources close to Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat reiterated the rejection of proportionality in the parliamentary elections as his Druze rivals advocated a new draft-law that would end the MP’s ability to create a new parliamentary majority.

The sources told As Safir newspaper published Thursday that the current draft-law proposed by Interior Minister Marwan Charbel on proportionality is rejected because they claim it does not intend to introduce reform.

Jumblat has repeatedly called for a comprehensive reform that should include allowing Lebanese expatriates to vote, abolish political confessionalism, establish a senate and make administrative divisions.

The sources said that no one could limit Jumblat’s political and popular size, accusing the advocates of proportionality of seeking to improve their chances to win the elections.

As Safir quoted the PSP chief’s Druze rivals as saying, however, that Jumblat has been acting since the 2009 elections as the “maker of majorities” in Lebanon and has given himself the right to decide which party would rule Lebanon.

They said Jumblat has previously made his own choices in either pushing the Hizbullah-led March 8 forces or the March 14 coalition - which is now the opposition - to power.

The rivals warned that the government would be taking a “major risk” in adopting the 1960 electoral law as it did in the past elections, saying that move would hand over Jumblat again the decision to “make the new majority.”

The failure to adopt a new law for the 2013 polls would also pave way for the PSP chief to manage the country’s political life and have the upper hand in deciding the country’s fate, they said.

Mr.Joumbaltt, is admitting stealing Christian deputies publicly, and he's not ashamed! How low can he get?!

Its still better than reforming in a dodgy and twisted way. There are many ways to split a pizza. It isn't because one is fatter that he deserves a double share. There are 18 sects in Lebanon, let's have 10 seats in the parliament for each and let alliances and interests do the work. Or just get rid of this obsolete sectarian system and have the representation based on skill and meritocracy.

can you specify where ya Geha? if you read the electoral map, you'll see that the Shiaa can elect 2 or maybe 3 PM max, while sunni and Druzen have 14 Christian deputies elected wiht their votes so check ur facts.
Also in the only 100%christian district Keserwan FPM ALONe took 54% of the votes while (bkerkeh, sleiman, Boueiz, Khazen, Bon, LF, Kataeb,Ahrar, ketleh, fere3 ma3lumet) only got 46%.

"...allowing Lebanese expatriates to vote, abolish political confessionalism, establish a senate and make administrative divisions..."

VERY nice, but I wonder what he meant with the last point. "make administrative divisons" doesnt side good, if it is what I think it is.

lol Jumblat, no law will ever get you back the support of the druze. flipflopping without convictions is not very patriotic. Lebanese leaders are lucky the people are really mostly dumb or blind enough to vote them again.

So this is the overinflated opportunist low life embodiment of filth who gets emotional, sensitive and upset when the fact that he holds the country hostage is stated. But when can you do when the lower lives than he kneel at his feet and let him drag them wherever her feels like dragging them? In a country where people respect themselves, this scum bag should have been a skeleton hanging down a rope from a tree next to Geagea, his almost identical scum bag.

Man, this joke was maybe a little funny the first time you said it one year ago.

Can you skip that crap now, so we can have a normal civilized atmosphere here?

This guy would even double-cross his own mother. No wonder he is filthier than Geagea, not by much, though.
