New Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova says the Spanish club is looking to reinforce its defense and hopes to hold on to Dani Alves and Seydou Keita.

Vilanova, who signed a two-year contract Friday to take over from Pep Guardiola, said "we want to add to our defense. We have had problems and have been forced to adjust at both left back and center back."

Guardiola's former assistant also dispelled rumors surrounding the future of Dani Alves and Keita.

He said "Dani Alves is logically staying. He has been one of the best signings of this club ... Keita the same, if he wants to stay he has a place."

Sports director Andoni Zubizarreta said he would also discuss extending captain Carles Puyol's contract, up at the end of next season.
