Another Bank Falls Victim to Robbery
Two clients were injured when gunmen robbed the Societe Generale de Banque au Liban (SGBL) branch in Kfarshima on Tuesday, SGBL sources told Naharnet.
The sources said the two men were wounded from broken glass when two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire in the air upon entering the bank.
The National News Agency identified the injured as Zaher Ahmed Zeidan and Maroun Jerji Mdawwar who were taken to St. Therese hospital in Hadath.
The sources told Naharnet that the robbers pointed a gun at an employee’s head and forced him to open the bank’s safe. They later escaped with around $50,000 and LL40 million in cash.
SGBL later issued a statement on Thursday saying: “On July 3, 2012 the SGBL branch located in Kfarchima was subject to an armed robbery. At around 1:00 pm two armed men broke into the branch and made off with 110,000 USD in cash.
“During this encounter a customer was slightly injured and directly transported to the nearest hospital,” it said.
“All SGBL customary procedures and safety measures were applied to ensure the security of both the clients and employees,” stressed the statement.
“The authorities were immediately notified, and the investigation is currently ongoing,” it continued.
Operation returned at the branch on July 4.
Last Tuesday, unknown assailants managed to make off with LL64 million and $40,000 after robbing the Dbayeh branch of Banque Libano-Francaise.
On June 14, gunmen robbed the Federal Bank of Lebanon in the town of al-Damour and escaped with LL100 million.

My bank got robbed twice in the US, do you think HA has something to do with it? I am surprised, it doesn't happen all the time in Lebanon. Since you need to pick up the police in Lebanon or send them a taxi to come to the crime scene. lol
