Jibril: Iran, Hizbullah to Defend Syria from 'Attack'

W300

Hizbullah and Iran will fight alongside the Syrian regime if it is attacked by foreign forces, the head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command Ahmed Jibril said on Tuesday.

In the event of "a foreign attack, we discussed with our brothers (in the Syrian regime), with Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and our brothers in Iran, we will be part of this battle,” he revealed.

In an interview with Beirut-based Mayadeen television, Jibril said that if a "Turkish-European alliance or NATO escalate... we will take to the streets and fight on behalf of all those with honor and our Syrian brothers."

Jibril also cited Nasrallah as saying Hizbullah would fight on behalf of the Syrian regime, and described the Iran-Syria-Hizbullah alliance as "one axis" that the PFLP-GC is part of.

He added that he met recently with Nasrallah, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Syrian President Bashar Assad, without specifying when.

He also noted that the Hizbullah chief "said he would join this battle, in the event of a foreign attack" on Syria.

The Iranian regime, he said, told him it would not allow a strike on Syria. "We have warned the Turks several times not to play with fire," Jibril said.

Echoing the Syrian regime's discourse, the PFLP-GC chief said the 16-month uprising against Assad was not a genuine local movement, but rather "a change in the foundations of this region in order to create a new Middle East," referring to a term coined in 2006 by former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Jibril described the defense of the Syrian regime as "a decisive battle." Victory would be necessary, he said, in order to "defeat the American and Zionist projects."

The PFLP-GC is a radical Palestinian faction that is based in Damascus.

who wants cleare than than?
hizbushaitan confirms once (as if it was needed) its foreign agenda, thus this not a resistance rather a state within a state just like the palestinians were in the past.

Thumb bigsami over 11 years

There you go.....now if this doesn't spell out to all what HA is all about then nothing will. HA is not a 'resistance' it's a mere branch of the Iranian/Syrian regime. They could care less about Lebanon and what happens to it.

Thumb bigsami over 11 years

The majority of those who support/worship HA are illiterate and been suppressed by old religious ideologies that are meaningless today. They back this illegitimate group primarily because of the free handouts they get and all through Iranian financial support. They are clueless about the true goals and purpose of Hasan and his armed gorillas. That's the sad part!

Thumb applepie over 11 years

1- Old religious ideologies that are meaningless today? Speak for yourself and for your own beliefs that seem to come with an expiry date apparently.

2- Free handouts??? I beg to differ.

3- Clueless about the true goals and purpose of "Sayyid" Hasan...? No my friend. We are very clear and aware of the goals and purpose of Hezbollah. You, on the other hand, have created so many lies and believed so much crap that you have started to believe them yourself.

Well, Hezbollah is now defending Syria, but not against Israel... against fellow arabs. BRAVO! Once more, they confirm what we already knew. Please leave Lebanon and go fight the FSA, free the Golan and the Shebaa Farms. Allah ma3kon. The Pasdaran forces wandering around Beirut should be shipped back to Tehran ASAP. The Hezbollah ministers as well. yalla, быстро.

Remind me again who you claim to be? A resistance? You abide by the formula of people, army, resistance? You're Lebanese? You respect the army?
HOW CAN ANYONE BLINDLY FOLLOW A FOREIGN MILITIA ON THEIR HOMELAND????

Thumb phoenician over 11 years

I swear to all Mighty God that every single Hizbul-khara member or simpthysizer should be stripped of their Lebanese nationality and deported to evil Iran where they belong, they dont give a damn about Lebanon they are only interested in what Hussein stands for and a one muslim Umma. Go to HELL and dont ever come back.

Just another example of Lebanese politicians alleging to foreign forces. This is not any different from some Lebanese political forces joining the fight in Syria against Assad.

Our MP's still live in the era of the civil war, the era of division, of conflict, of violence over compromise, and this is the case on both sides of the political spectrum. Only when we have a new liberal movement from a new generation of the Lebanese population, we will see Lebanon prosper.

Ship him to Palestine and let him fight his own wars--we've had enough of them.

Missing ulpianus over 11 years

Why are they able to say this? Because they know they wont risk reaching this situation as Russia will NEVER let go of tartous.

Assad will not be forced to step down by foreign military intervention. Thus, Hezb. and Iran can openly talk about defending him.

Thumb lebanon_first over 11 years

Indeed. they will never let go of tartous. Also there is another theory. the US, Saudi, and Israel are happy that someone is getting rid of qaeda for them. Bachar is not only fighting SLA. He is also fighting el qaeda...

Default-user-icon alqaeda (Guest) over 11 years

so us, saudi and israel is somehow against al-qaeda? funny that every time this illusive group pops up it is right after cia has destabilized the country.
al-qaeda has always been just another arm of the cia. Paid, trained and used as meat-shields by imperialists.

But you probably believe that "we dropped him in the water" story with the elusive "seal team" who the next week "died" in a helicopter crash in afghanstan, yet they didnt bother to mention that on their tvs. would these not have been the perfect heroes for these bloodthirsty barbarians?

The "official" story of al-qaeda ends up with that when al-qaeda won the wor for their masters, they somehow decided to change to "hate" america and we get fake videos from bin laden.

This is destabilization 101. There are several former kgb and cia agents on youtube explaining in detail how they do this.

@prime suspect. so you are saying that Israel is not afraid anymore about regime change in syria because moslem brotherhood has proved that it can be pragmatic, like in Egypt. It did prove it is not this big ba3ba3... So Assad can no longer count much on israelis to lobby against military action... Valid point. Ulpianus's point remain. the russians wont allow losing syria + the americans are probably thinking about the war in syria: "fokhar ykassir ba3do"...

Anonymusa.

Yes, I have made the same point a couple of times here. Why do Russia think they have to leave tartus if Bashar leaves. This agreement could still continue to exist work. Tartus in exchange with modern weopons.

BUT have came to new thoughts in this question. Seeing the increased Saudi/Salafist activity in the region means that US is pulling some strings to, as saudi is their closest allies in the region besides israel. This means taht any outing of Bashar, that could lead to a saudi friendly regime will lead to a US friendly regime leading to an "anti" Russia regime.

Personally I still think the "revolution" is the peoples revolution and the ssalafi/saudi are not major players. But I´m not sure Russia has the same point of view.

Lastly, I feel US are not totally convinced about Egypt, as they are still undeservedly labelled "islamists". Islamist= Terrorists= not trustable from US/israel point of view.

I would love love to see the hizb's people fight in syria, and hopefully never come back, neither dead nor alive. That's one way of getting rid of them. Maybe that's what they want; to die martyrs. I hope their wishes come true.

Bro when you comeback from lala land give me a shout, but with all due respect you are blinkered, your remarks are bases on sentiments and assumptions which is fair enough but not in the case of Lebanon.

Here is why:

Please read the following verse from the Koran,
* surah 5 Al-Maidah part 6 verse 51

Thumb beiruti over 11 years

Such an interesting story. Ahmad Jabril, a complete subsidiary of the Assad Regime, one who has waged war on Lebanon is in league with Hezbollah over the common objective of the survival of the Assad Regime.
Did this issue make it to the Dialogue Table? What of the national policy, promoted by Hezbollah, that "Lebanon" should remain away from the Syrian Civil War?
Everything is in the open now. Berri is stuffing the agencies (EDL) with every Shia he can find and Hezbollah, though controlling the government, acts in complete disregard of it, its constitution, laws and institutions. Its as if the Shia politicians are sensing that their time at the helm is nearing a close and so they have gone into hyper-cleptomania from now until the end.
