Israel Warns its Citizens against Travel to Iraq

Israel warned its citizens from traveling to Iraq due to the increase in threats on the emphasis that visits to Iraq are illegal and a criminal offense, in a statement issued by the prime minister’s office.

“Given the increase in threats, visiting Iraq is very dangerous,” The National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau warned on Monday.

Israel stressed that the phenomenon of Israelis visiting the Kurdish area in the northeast, the area around Baghdad and southern Iraq has increased lately.

The NSCCTB urged Israelis in Iraq to leave immediately and to refrain from traveling there, “pursuant to the 1954 prevention of Infiltration (Offenses and Jurisdiction) Law, travel to Iraq, without a permit, is a criminal offense.”
