Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah appearing in person at Dahiyeh rally in protest against the anti-Islam film: I thank you for responding to Prophet Mohammed's call. over 11 years

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned on Monday against the broadcast of the entire anti-Islam film.

He said: “The United States must realize that broadcasting the entire film will have very dangerous repercussions in the world.”

He made his remarks during a rally, held in Beirut's Dahiyeh southern suburb, protesting the film.

The Hizbullah leader made a rare public appearance, his fifth in six years, at the rally.

“Those who insult the Prophet Mohammed will suffer a holy punishment,” he declared before the crowd of thousands.

“Some sides have not realized the extent of the insult against the Prophet,” he added.

“Our movement will continue until the film ceases to be broadcast,” he revealed.

Nasrallah held the United States responsible for ensuring the halt of the airing of the movie, Innocence of Muslims, that has sparked outrage and anti-U.S. Rallies throughout the Muslim world.

He demanded that the U.S. also “close the door completely against any possibility to insult the Prophet and hold whoever does so accountable for their actions.”

He reiterated his demand that the Lebanese government exert efforts on the international community to issue an international resolution that incriminates insults against religions.

“The Muslim world's failure to achieve such a goal will leave the door open to future abuses the consequences of which cannot be determined,” he warned.

The Hizbullah chief announced that Monday's action will pave the way for the beginning of worldwide action.

“Muslims around the world must unite to reach common goals,” he added.

The Hizbullah leader announced on Sunday that the party will hold a series of rallies against the film throughout this week.

This is also the first time he made a full speech in person to thousands of his supporters since 2008. Nasrallah has been in hiding since 2006, at the end of the July war that year.

Several thousand Hizbullah supporters took to the streets Dahiyeh to denounce the film mocking Islam.

"America is the great Satan!" and "Death to Israel! Death to Israel!" cried the protesters, shrouded in an ocean of colorful flags representing Hizbullah and its ally the AMAL movement.

"We sacrifice ourselves for you, O Mohammed!" and "We sacrifice ourselves for you, O Islam," they yelled, raising their fists to the sky. "O America, listen to us, you cannot humiliate our religion!"

"I haven't seen the film, but I know it portrays the Prophet as a bloodthirsty man who only thinks about his desires," said 29-year-old Nabih Ayash, one of the protesters in Beirut.

"I came to heed the Prophet's call... but I waited until an organized protest was staged, so that we do not give a bad image of Muslims."

Violent protests and clashes have broken out since last week, leading to the deaths of 18 people worldwide, including a U.S. ambassador in Libya and three members of the diplomatic corps.

In Tripoli in north Lebanon, Islamists set fire to a fast food restaurant on Friday, in protest over the film, while a 25-year-old was killed when protesters clashed with the security forces.

Hey Nassy, this is Gabby talking. From me to you....go to hell. You are scum. Your false movement is in serious decline. ASSad is losing on the ground so you and Iran have to go in and help him.

By the way, don't forget.....the next time you are in big trouble and start an Israeli war, the new Syrian regime and the Syrian people will remember what you did to them.

Missing mohammad_ca over 11 years

so let me ask you something mooo-waten, why don't you and nasralla protest the ASSad regime whose soldiers, as admitted by bashar himself, force people at gunpoint to say "there's no god but bashar...?"

A desperate cynical attempt to reclaim the status, as the great defender, that he lost among the Muslims and Arabs populations. He might get some momentary traction out of it.

Missing hitech over 11 years

He is trying to take advantage of the situation to position himself as a global Muslim leader. "Never waste a crisis". This is good maneuvering. Now the head of a terrorist organization is acting like a representative of Muslims and taking the leadership of calling for issuing laws for people to obey them. What a disgrace to Muslims.

Nasrallah rule:)

Default-user-icon Ram (Guest) over 11 years

I find myself slightly confused:

1) "I thank you for responding to Prophet Mohammed's call"? Who and when did he call? Does that mean the prophecy was right and that he's back?

2) "Those who abuse the prophet will meet a holy punishment"? And I take it no one is more holy than these "people" that killed the American ambassador and his staff, or perhaps it is the “Party of God”?

3) "Nasrallah demanded that the film no longer be shown over the internet and that the U.S. take action to this end"? So, this group that generally chants "Death to America" in the streets is now asking that same America to take action?

4) "Nasrallah: The recent developments must motivate Muslims to unite for common goals." I'm really intrigued as to what these goals are.

If anyone can help me understand these items, I'd be more than glad. And if the Sayyed has time for a walk in the city, maybe he'll have time for a few words on Naharnet?

Cheers!

Is this guy really in his right mind. he wants to destroy everyone and everything for what? For a movie that one person did? So many movies about Jesus were made in which jesus was portrayed in a way against the bible and went like they came with no commotion. the mesiah movie that Iran did and was about to be shown on Al Manar TV was against the central christian faith and no one did anything other than protesting peacefully. Who is this Hassan Nassralah to attck the world from lebanon. let him go to Iran and do what he wants. Lebanon is not his country alone. Three fourth of the people are against him.

Before the Muslims take to the street feeling offended by a "movie", they should wonder if maybe the Islamic sects in northern Mali too felt offended by the destruction of their shrines; the Sufi's for the bull-dozing of their mausoleums in Libya; or the Buddhists for the implosion of their statues in Afghanistan....
all at the hands of fanatic Muslims...but I guess thers was no need to protest that.

What he and others are doing are exploiting the situation to their benefit, and of course, the unintended (I hope) consequence is that they are promoting the movie. People who had never heard of the movie in the last week maybe thinking about watching it just to see what the big deal is.

Hey, the movie played 2 shows at a small theater in California--it wasn't going to get much more of an audience. Now, it will get a global audience thanks to this publicity.

Hey everyone, shut up and let the movie die on its own.

This is the third massive failure of Shia leadership. The first is by allowing Hizb to institute a culture of hate and war, children indoctrination, and destructive mentality; while Sunnis and Christians focus on higher education, critical thinking, and free scholarships to best universities in Europe & USA. Second failure is during Green Revolution where Hizb & Amal supported criminal Basij as they brutally oppressed Iranian students that simply wanted freedom and democracy Lebanese Shia enjoy. The third is this Nassrallah speech echoing a morally and spiritually bankrupt organization that is asking Shia to behave like uncivilized masses days after Christians and Muslims showed the true face of Lebanon, the Resala. You can blame leaders to a point. I blame the entire Shia community for blindly following the Basij to the abyss, preventing Lebanon from fulfilling its regional role and scaring all foreign investment causing misery since their message resonate only when misery prevails.

This muppet above is supposed to be a religious role model and leader by preaching and inciting hate and murder whilst The Holy father Pope Benedict vxi preached love forgiveness and compassion to all mankind.

If jesus dont preach hatred then why are you so hateful and spreading hatred day and night?? Sorry but you dont follow the real christ. You follow the anti-christ. And who made your pope holy? You dont even dare to defend the prophet (saw) and the religion of Islam yet you will make sure to please the one who hates your religion. Perhaps you grew up in a muslim family but you surely can not be a Muslim, not according to Islam. Go read the quran. Dont just talk about God, back your statements up with a quranic reference next time you want to make it seem as if Islam tells us to clap our hands when people like phoenician, an internet-crusader, write lies about our religion. Why didnt you accuse him and his fellow maronites who day and night insult islam on naharnet of spreading hatred and anger??

Missing gcb1 over 11 years

Pheonician, you typical ignorant Ouwet/Kataeb follower, please go read your history correctly.

You typical Islamophobes like to take things out of context and seek to demonize Islam with no historical accuracy. I can find out countless passages in the Bible that, out of context, could be interpreted violently. The rights of Christians and Jews under the earliest Islamic societies were preserved and this is in direct contradiction to what you are implying.

Educate yourself and realize that no religion advocates violence. Read good Islamic scholars that actually know their history, not some guy in his basement giving his thoughts on some passages in the Quran taken out of context.

PS: I am not a Muslim

Granted, the movie was insulting to Islam and hurtful. True. But what is worse, hurting the feelings of Muslims, or killing them wholesale in the streets of Idlib, Rastam, Aleppo or Damascus. Hezbollah and the Blessed IRG have been engaged not just in hurting the feelings of Muslims, but in spilling their blood in a war of ethnic clensing of persons for no reason other than their Sunni Muslim faith.

Where, Hassouna, do you get the right to preach about insults to Islam when you are engaged in the most severe insult imaginable?

Missing beirut78 over 11 years

Phoenician you interner crusader who thinks he is phoenician, first of all, the age of aisha (ra) was not for sure 9, there are historic texts that indicate that she was 17-19. And even if she was 9, she had reached puberty which meant that at that time, girls were ready to be married, whether they were muslim, christian, jewish, atheist or anything else as that was very common at that time. In fact, christian historians have claimed Mary (pbuh) was 11-12 at the time of giving birth to the prophet Issa (as). According to todays standars, she too was a child.

Regarding your lies about the jewish communities, those jews had an agreement with the muslims that they broke by trying to destroy Islam and helping the mushrikoon against the muslims, therefor they got what they deserved. Thats nothing compared with what the OLD TESTAMENT claims other prophets and their followers did.

Missing beirut78 over 11 years

Nowhere in the quran does God critisize or mock his prophet Christ, you are a liar and misschief doer.

Go take care of your faults instead of lookin at others. Christians have massacred, slaughtered, force-converted, raped and terrorized for over 1000 years against people of all faith, including christians of other denominations. You even have a photo of the terrorist crusaders who not only slaughtered muslims but orthodox christians as well because they refused to be catholics. Check your self. The new testament contains statements that can easily be called porn, terrorism and opression. Go open your bible and YOU go get your facts straight.

Regardless of my stands about Hizbulla, I have to give the man a credit to have stated , for the first time in the arab/muslim word, a plan thatdoesnt contain any incitment for terrorist acts (like what happened in Lybia) but a peacful resistance (boycot, diplomatic action), and I beleive if muslims work on this plan they can for once impose things on the USA and the UN

Missing people-power over 11 years

In despotic countries like North Korea, you can be jailed for dozens of years simply for speaking your mind. Freedom of expression is a right in the western world, which obviously your small mind cannot grasp.

The protests should be against the people who produced the movie, not against the US government. Do you think that making the movie was offensive? How about the killing of the US Ambassador? Was that offensive? What did he have to do with the movie? Why don't you protest against those who killed him?

The US and the west protect freedom of speech, and I would protest in favor or freedom of speech, not against it. The alternative is tyrannical regimes who jail people for what they say.

You are ignorant on this matter. If you want to live in a censored society, then move to Iran or North Korea. If you want to protest against this stupid movie, then protest against the Egyptian who made it.

I don't give a rat's behind if you leave this forum

Default-user-icon wakeuplebpeople (Guest) over 11 years

it's funny that your response to a guy who didn't finish making his point yet is by calling him names... very classy
second, if you read the article again, Nasrallah is protesting the movie not the US government, but he's holding them responsible for the movie, big difference.
third, when you talk about freedom of speech, please go read about it before you just throw the word out as if you are an expert. Here's the United States first amendment about freedom of speech (since you like the US so much):"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." So "the right of the people peaceably to assemble" is what these people are doing, which is part of the freedom of speech.

Missing people-power over 11 years

Aren't you so full of yourself? Why are you still here? You said that if you receive insults then you will leave this forum, so take a hike. Or are you going to go back on your word?

You obviously don't understand the importance of freedom of speech and expression. Who decides what is objectionable? Do you want a censorship board? Any country that wishes to control freedom of speech can do so, but those in the west have decided to allow it absolutely. You can decide what country you want to live in, but if you want to overturn the freedom of expression in the west, then you are not only ignorant but foolish, and you have no idea how freedom of expression has helped advanced society in the west.

I have no problem with anyone who wants to make peaceful, non-violent protests regarding anything. It doesn't mean I agree with them. If they are against the movie, then protest against the person who produced it. The US government had no part in making or broadcasting this movie.

Missing people-power over 11 years

You know very well that the axis of evil is trying to propagandize this movie to foment hatred against the US. You think there will be no anti-US slogans at this rally? How about US flag-burning? Of course they have the right to express themselves, just as someone had the right to make a stupid movie. Doesn't mean I agree with any of them.

I hope some day you will understand the importance of freedom of speech. You will understand how MILLIONS of people around the world have been imprisoned, and some killed, simply for speaking their mind. Most of the time, these people were not insulting a religion, but spoke against a despotic government. In order to protect these people, you have to give freedom of speech to all, including those you disagree with.
