Asir Urges 'Rational Shiites' to Save Lebanon from 'Nasrallah Involvement in Syria'

W300

Anti-Syria Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir on Sunday urged the “rational brothers in the Shiite sect to save the country from the Iranian scheme and from the creeping woes that are being drawn by (Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan) Nasrallah's involvement in Syria.”

“I salute our heroic, free people in Syria,” Asir said during a sit-in he organized in downtown Beirut in support of the Syrian people.

Protesters waved Syrian independence flags, in support for the revolt that broke out in March last year.

“May God curse the protectors of Israel's security -- Bashar and Maher Assad,” the Salafist cleric added, in a scathing attack on the embattled Syrian president and his brother Maher, who heads the elite, feared Fourth Armored Division.

Slamming Tehran, Syria's main regional ally, Asir accused the Iranians of “spending their money on killing the Syrian people.”

Asir also blasted Hizbullah and accused it of aiding the Assad regime militarily.

“No to any arms other than the state's arms and no to the arms of the 'jihadist duty,'” Asir added.

“We cannot coexist with the arms of the 'party of Iran' (Hizbullah) which are targeting us daily,” he went on to say.

Asir's remarks come after media reports said a top Hizbullah commander and several fighters were killed while taking part in the raging conflict in Syria. Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has denied the reports and clarified that the Hizbullah fighters were killed while defending Lebanese-inhabited border towns inside Syria.

“During the first days of the Syrian crisis, some Arab satellite networks claimed that Hizbullah had sent 3,000 fighters to Syria and we said that the reports were false and they are still false,” said Nasrallah.

“In Lebanon, nothing can be kept under wraps and we do not hide anything. When a martyr falls, we tell the truth to his family about when, where and how the dear brother was martyred,” he noted.

“Until the moment, we have not fought alongside the Syrian regime. It has not asked us to do so and who said that we have an interest in that,” he noted.

Nasrallah explained that there are 23 Syrian border towns and 12 farms that are inhabited by Lebanese residents of various religious beliefs, adding that around 30,000 Lebanese residents live in these towns.

“A large number of Lebanese residents of these border towns belong to Hizbullah and they have been fighting in the party's ranks since 30 years. We did not tell them how to deal with the incidents. We told them make your own choice and they chose to stay in their homes. Armed groups attacked them and carried out killings, kidnappings and even rapes,” Nasrallah clarified.

“Some of them decided to flee the area, but most of them stayed in their towns and started to arm themselves. The residents of these towns took the decision to stay and defend themselves against the armed groups and did not engage in the battle between the regime and the opposition,” Hizbullah's leader added.

He stressed that the party has decided to open a new front.

“I cannot prevent anyone, whether they belong to Hizbullah or not, from staying in the border areas. We have not opened a new front and our front is well-known,” Nasrallah added.

Another person claiming to be religious trying to give political advice--stfu. Either be a cleric or be a politician--mixing them has dangerous results. See taliban or dark ages in Europe for more clarification.

Maybe he and Hassan can have a duel to the death on pay per view TV and then the audience can then kill the loser.

It is hizbustan in the first place and the murder of hariri that gave birth to the salafist movement in lebanon. This is still moderation, the worse scenarios are yet to come: the conditions to heal lebanon are impossible (surrendering the hizzie culprits of the assasinations, arms to the state etc.) and the potential destruction of lebanon is more than possible, just imagine what would happen to the beka3 valley for example following the fall of the masna3 to the FSA one day if hizbustan does not 180 degrees change course and i dont think it will. Iran will do to the arab she3as what hitler did to the germans.

Bro u cant seperate Islam from day today life and politics of muslims, sharia law is their politics and how they govern their lifes. PARTITION IS THE ANSWER.

Missing samiam over 11 years

Dude, that's a myth.

The only people that claim to want sharia law are either the ones that want to make a name for themselves or people that are either uneducated or economically or socially disadvantaged. You have people saying the answer for their disparity is due to not having sharia law, and they being uneducated, poor, or otherwise disadvantaged are stupid and naive enough to believe it. Take a walk around Hamra and ask people if they want to live under Sharia law and get back to me if you want. You will have better results if you go to an area with less educated people.

Listen dude, people have been used by religious figures throughout history. The Spanish were able to slaughter millions of people in the Americas in the name of religion, when in fact all they wanted was their gold. My solution: any religion figures who use incendiary language should be thrown in a place where the only person who hears them speak is themselves.

@samiam

Bro you' ve just insulted 1billion people by calling them uneducated and stupid, its their belief in sharia law that u find more hardline islamist than others i.e the 14year old in pakistan shot in the head for going school WHY do you think taliban did that??????????? Because in islam women are not allowed education, work, make up, music, dancing etc........................

Missing samiam over 11 years

No, I didn't insult them you did. Of the billion you cite, maybe a few million want it--most of them want it to either hold onto power or get into power. The Taliban you cite use religion to dominate women--where in any document in Islam does it say women aren't allowed to be educated? Come on phoenician--you want to make claims, back them up with facts and stop spreading stupid rumors. Religion has been used throughout history by people trying to justify their power--kings in europe had some cleric as their right hand man to give the impression that God/religion and country were one and the same.

Phoenician , the Taliban warned that girl three times to stop what she was doing, pushing for secluarlism and promoting western ideas. People are dying everyday in Pakistan from the drones, yet nobody hears about but why is this story blown out of proportion. Obviously some people have a hidden agenda to justify the ongoing drone war

Default-user-icon Muslim Girl (Guest) over 11 years

actually, in islam, women has all their rights. read the koran before u decide what islam allows for. the prophet gave us the right to education, owning business, vote, travel, and choose our husband. In islam, women are more omportant than men. it is the ignorance and egocentrism of men that lead to such behavior

Thumb phoenician over 11 years

I know what u mean about Hamra and thank God for that but thats a friction of the population. Look at the arab spring, muslim brotherhood are in powe voted in by WHOM? ????????? THE MAJORITY OF THE PUBLIC WHO WANTS TO LIVE ACCORDING TO SHARIA LAW.

Thumb jadski over 11 years

because most of them are uneducated and stupid .... the repercussions will follow and they will wonder how this happened and blame outside powers instead of themselves .

Missing samiam over 11 years

Egypt--spring occurred because people were poor (economically disadvantaged) and uneducated (literacy rate is around 70% which means there are 20 some million people without education). To top things off, during the elections, they had a choice between the muslim brotherhood, which had already been established for some time and members of the old regime. Guess what, they kicked out the old regime so they got stuck with the other party.

In the middle east, democracy is too young for people to make well informed decisions. Russia is sort of in the same boat--after the fall of communism, people tried going away from communists, but unfortunately they have reelected the same people that a generation before them had gotten rid of.

Democracy a dual edged sword--the true answer is education and that takes a while to take hold.

Default-user-icon Ismail Houssein (Guest) almost 11 years

You make a very good point. The arab spring is now orchestrated by the west. The west will never let democracy be established in the middle east. The west wants to stabilize the middle east (control it), and a steady flow of resources such as oil.

Missing toucan over 11 years

Yes Phoenician you are right about, the majority of Muslims do want shariah law, obviously the Muslims that are against it are communist, or brainwashed or are fake Muslims. Just by name, you shouldn't be afraid of shariah, if a Muslims steals or a Christian steals, it's the same, they won't cut people's hands off just like that by the way, there has to be first awareness and providing of employment, yes we need shariah law, we tried your democracy and secularism, where has it gotten us, nowere , the non Muslims who don't want to live under Islamic rule can go move somewhere else but trust me you won't get treated any better than amongst the Muslims,
