U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Michael Williams called on Thursday for speeding up the formation of a government capable of overcoming all obstacles in Lebanon.

He made his statements after holding talks with caretaker Labor Minister Butros Harb on various developments in Lebanon and the Arab world.

“The people of Lebanon are clearly concerned about their economic situation and I believe this underlines the urgency to form a new government that can tackle the many issues that are before Lebanon,” he said.

“I think in any country the task of politicians of the political class is to overcome obstacles,” he added.

Williams stressed: “And I think the need to form a government in Lebanon is now becoming urgent.”
