Report: Nasrallah to Make Televised Speech Friday on 'Wounded Veterans Day'
Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will make a televised speech on Friday on the occasion of "Wounded Veterans Day."
According to An Nahar newspaper published on Sunday, Nasrallah is expected to address the latest local political and security developments.
The party's chief will most likely tackle Hizbullah's intervention in Syria days after the town of Qusayr, which had been in insurgent hands for a year, fell to the army and fighters from Hizbullah.
Qusayr, only 10 kilometers from Lebanon, is strategic for the regime because because it lies on a route linking Damascus to the coast. For the rebels, it was an important conduit for men and supplies coming from Lebanon.
Nasrallah had previously justified the group's involvement in Syria by saying they were defending Lebanese-inhabited border villages inside Syria and Shiite holy sites in the Damascus province.
But during a May 25 speech marking the 13th anniversary of Israel's military withdrawal from Lebanon, Nasrallah said the hardline Takfiris are the “most prevailing group in the Syrian opposition,” warning against a defeat against them in the ongoing war in Syria.
He said: “If Syria falls in the hands of the Takfiris and the United States, the resistance will become under a siege and Israel will enter Lebanon. If Syria falls, the Palestinian cause will be lost.”
More than 94,000 people have been killed and some 1.6 million Syrians fled the country since the civil war began in March 2011 after Assad cracked down on pro-democracy protests, according to Observatory figures.
The number of refugees is expected to reach at least 3.45 million by the end of this year, according to the U.N. appeal.
Inside the country, 6.8 million people, most of them displaced from their homes, are forecast to need aid this year.

So is HN going to declare "mission accomplished" and bring his men home, possibly keeping them on the Syrian side of the border in some kind of a buffer zone, or is he going to announce the deepening of his involvement in the Syrian swamp? I still think that plan B for the "Axis of Resistance" is the creation of an Alawite entity along the Lebanese border and on west-northwest along the coast. The rest of the country formally known as Syria would be ruled by a Sunni majority.
