STL Clause Stirs Controversy as Hizbullah, FPM Suggest Replacing it with ‘Justice and Truth’

W300

The controversial issue of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon could be discussed at the national dialogue table if Premier Najib Miqati failed to agree with Hizbullah and the Free Patriotic Movement on how to include a clause on the court in the cabinet’s draft policy statement.

The 12-member ministerial committee that met under Miqati at the Grand Serail on Wednesday did not discuss the tribunal issue but al-Liwaa daily said that the representatives of Hizbullah and FPM chief Michel Aoun have stressed to the premier their rejection to mention the STL in the policy statement.

According to al-Liwaa, the delegates informed Miqati that Saad Hariri’s national unity cabinet was toppled in January due to the bickering between the March 8 and 14 forces on the court. “That’s why, the government that came after it should not adopt a clause that led to the collapse of the (previous) cabinet.”

The representatives of Hizbullah and Aoun suggested to Miqati to replace the name of the international tribunal in the policy statement with “justice and the truth” in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s Feb. 2005 assassination, the newspaper added.

The differences between Miqati on one side and Hizbullah and the FPM on the other, forced the prime minister to leave the tribunal clause outside the draft policy statement that he suggested to the committee on Wednesday.

Al-Liwaa did not rule out the possibility to discuss the controversial issue at the national dialogue table although the dialogue commission had approved the tribunal clause in one of the first meetings it held in 2006.

But a minister, who refused to be identified, expected in remarks to As Safir daily that the STL clause to be drafted in a way that “wouldn’t antagonize the international community and wouldn’t provoke any local party.”

High-ranking ministerial sources also told An Nahar newspaper that the tribunal clause would be the last item to be discussed by the committee, pending consultations and a possible deal among the majority forces.

They stressed, however, that the majority of cabinet members believe that Lebanon should remain committed to international resolutions particularly after foreign diplomats stressed to Miqati the importance of Lebanon’s commitment to the international tribunal.

Miqati also believes that the government should not disregard the STL in its policy statement in view of current international developments.

Well now, this is the rub, isn't it? The STL is irreversible and irretrevable. It is done, the horse is out of the barn and regardless of which veil Aoun and Nasrallah try to put over it, regardless of their attempts to call their rejection of the Court by any other name, the Court exists and it will continue to exist for as long as the Security Council of the United Nations exists.

The STL exists by the consent of the Lebanese Republic outside of the jurisdiction of any Lebanese government. It exists under the authority of the United Nations.

Nasrallah's "evidence" that Israel is the true perpetrator of the assassination of Hariri and the others is now fully exposed for what it is. Now that he has the government, he has all that he needs in the ministries to develop the evidence and present it to the STL and to punish its enemies with the truth? And is this what he is doing? No. He continues to flee from the STL. Flight is always proof of guilt.

The STL clause must be replaced with this:
Now that Rafic has been barbecued, his Mafia is being dismantled and Feltman's stooges will be dragged to jail pending their hanging, Lebanon is on its way to its long-awaited Spring. The STL can keep sending us reports on high-quality and finest kinds of paper. We will cut them into squares and distributed them equally on all restaurants where they can use them as coasters or toilet paper.

Beiruti, your words are more than enough to explain this disgusting situation we have come to, you are right 1000% , since they have everything they need, as well as the justice ministry, why dont they trace the '' False witnesses '' and get it over with? prove to us that Israel commited the crime and it is a Zionist plan to kill Lebanon, here are some things we need to understand :

- The defendant is innocent until proven guilty, nobody said Hezbollah is guilty yet, so why are they so scared?
- Sayyed Hassouni showed us his very hard to convince evidence that Israel did it, MP Sami Gemayel put him back in his place because he proved that the picture Hassouni showed was taken way before 2005, so Hassouni is a false wtiness too?
- There are false witnesses, like ANY case in the world, and the STL is impartial , and about the 4 million finger prints, this is a lie, and you can see which newspaper posted it, if it isnt AL AKHBAR, mouthpiece of March 8th, just to discredit STL

- I wonder why when the investigators came to Dahieh they were beaten up by guys wearing niqab disguised as women and stole personal stuff?

- Is it too hard to believe ? when even if our own Security force or army wants to dismantle illegal properties , they throw rocks at them and beat them up?

- Some theories say that Hezbollah Members executed it with orders from the syrians and something very possible suggests that Hezbollah is infiltrated by the Mossad, which in coordination with Hezbollah members executed it . but yet again they could have fed those people to the STL, and maybe Hassouni didnt know, but remember when he said that there is no secret inside Hezbollah and he knows it all? so he knew that Rafik Hariri was going to get killed by some members of his party? he is guilty as well.

- Michel Aoun covering them is guilty as well, and it is obvious HA did it because Hariri senior was a danger to their reign not like Lahoud who permitted their expansion

- It is a shame they did it, specially that it is RAFIK HARIRI that gave them parliament seats, and on purpose so the international community recognises them as part of Lebanese governement and not a terrorist organisation. It is Hariri that many times defended them world wide, those are FACTS undeniable, but seeing that they didnt want to disarm at the end, although he was trying to get them to slowly enter lebanese politics and become a normal party, he then tried to get the resolution 1559 to get Syria out and disarm ALL MILITIAS and Palestinians as well !! and yet he got killed.

- Finally a small conclusion, Aounist Phenicien, please you never answer me , can you go check some big shareholders names in SOLIDERE? they are affiliated to your BELOVED GMA, it is a fact and aounist told me so, so this B.S about solidere robbing money, well sorry to tell you your own people screwed you as well :) wake up , and look at reality, if we allow syria to govern us, the world will isolate us.

Pacifier, you poor innocent angel, nobody is scared but those whose plans for using the STL. You are not aware that 4 innocent generals were jailed for 4 years, were almost hanged, and Lahoud was almost thrown in jail himself; have not read the leaks in so many papers for so long; do not hear what Al Mustaqbal al mrett repeats day and night (since Syria was no longer, or until new further notice re-accused); have not read WikiLeaks; have not heard of the fabrications by the false witnesses; have not watched HakikaLeaks; have not read what Mehlis, a corrupt imbecile, wrote; have not heard about the resignations at the STL; are not aware of the give and take between Bellemare and Daniel Fransen over Jamil al Sayyed's dosuments and lawsuits... Where have you been you poor little angel? maskin enta chou bari2. Yeah, let's wait. The book is known from its title, little angel.

I am shaking my head in disbelief. After all, Hariri helped Hezbollah stay off Europe's terrorist organizations list and they stand accused of killing him it seems. Are they afraid that evidence would come out? They cannot be trusted.

Fardi, i have some questions for you :

- Hariri was a threat to who mostly? wasnt he the strong Sunni man of Lebanon?

- Why would Israel kill him? to undermine Lebanon? it doesnt need that, Lebanon was better off sold to the Syrians since Taef and washington and Israel were very ok with that.

- Why would Israel want to destroy Lebanon? to steal what? our oil? our polluted water? our water that we have been wasting for years? it has enough money to buy reserves for 2 centuries.

- Israel wants NOTHING that we, Lebanese , have, because we dont have anything to offer, exept prostitution of our girls to the Saudis , prostitution of our politicians to the US and Iran and Syria, no laws, no respect for one another.

- Israel is just happy the way things are, it doesnt want more or less. Hezbollah and Syria killed hariri so they can take over this mess and change it to their own pretty mess. thats it . they did a mistake, and are going to pay for it.

- How do u want me to believe Hezbollah is not guilty? here are the reasons why i cant remove the guilt from them or the Syrians and blame only Israel :

- Hezbollah gave a cover for Israel since 1982, no palestinian militia can organise any attack from the south , they are not allowed, thus protecting Israel's borders on the north. Same reasons why Israel didnt finish them off in 2006 and prefered the UN so it can still leave Hezbollah, staunt, doing nothing and the Lebanese now have to bear them .

- Hezbollah blow up in pieces a young soldier Samer Hanna, his 2 other companions, Chiite, werent harmed, he was killed after the Helicopter was asked to land and they say it was an accident.

- Hezbollah took over Beirut and Chouf and killed Lebanese on May 7th

- Hezbollah is hiding weapons in christians areas, why it isnt for some no good purpose?

- Hezbollah covers for people that are stealing public and private properties in the South.
