Miqati: Maintaining Lebanon’s Stability and Unity Will Be Govt.’s Priority

Prime Minister Najib Miqati stated on Saturday that the new government will be discussed a parliament next week on the basis of a “realistic and practical” policy statement that includes suggestions and projects that can be applied in different fields.

He hoped before reporters at the Grand Serail that the parliament sessions dedicated to granting cabinet next week would be constructive to all Lebanese.

“I hope that issues would be addressed in a positive light in order to protect our country and properly address challenges away from futile disputes and the accusatory rhetoric that all the Lebanese have grown tired of,” he added.

“Maintaining Lebanon’s unity and stability and restoring trust among the citizens will be the government’s priority,” the prime minister stressed.

“A political camp’s choice to withhold granting the cabinet confidence is part of the democratic game that we hope will be practiced politically and objectively,” he continued.

Miqati’s circles meanwhile revealed to al-Liwaa newspaper in remarks published on Saturday that he is reassured with the course of affairs in Lebanon after the release of the indictment in the investigation into the assassination of former Premier Rafik Hariri.

They said that he has ruled out the eruption of strife in Lebanon, hoping that the new government would be granted the vote of confidence in parliament next week so that it may begin its functioning.

They added that Miqati has stressed that he will not get embroiled in any dispute with any side in Lebanon, noting that he voiced his position on various developments soon after the indictment was released on Thursday.

Regardless of what will be said during the parliament sessions, he will maintain his stand that the government should be judged by its actions.

In addition, they reiterated his stance that the government will be aimed at working for the nation and all the Lebanese.

The lebanese government have not found or arrested a single person after the Halba massacre in 2008. The SSNP were told by their M8 allies not to seek revenge (JUSTICE) because it would have lead to an all out war in the North. What I am hearing in Koura (indirecrtly because we leftists do not communicate with SSNP) If this government is able to find and arrest any of the 4 alleged STL defendants without arresting the Halba massacre killers the SSNP will attack M14 suspects responsible for the Halba massacre. The SSNP have names and addresses of persons involved. I also heard that Marada will defend Koura from any attacks. This is Lebanon for those who have forgotten!

M14 should call today for worldwide financial sanctions against Najib Mikati & related parties for not implementing UN resolutions
