Mansour Calls Muallem, Says Lebanon Won't Remain Silent over Israeli Attack on Hizbullah

W300

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on Tuesday telephoned Syrian FM Walid Muallem and discussed with him “the latest developments and threats against Syria,” amid reports of an imminent military strike against the Syrian regime, Lebanon's National News Agency reported.

“This dangerous situation requires an emergency meeting of the (Lebanese) cabinet, or at least a ministerial meeting, to discuss the threats that are being launched against Syria and the possibility of a military strike against it and the direct repercussions on Lebanon,” Mansour told NNA.

“Such an emergency meeting would enable Lebanon to confront these challenges or limit their consequences,” he said.

Mansour added that the cabinet must convene to address “the dangerous situations although it is acting in caretaker capacity.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Mansour warned that a war against Syria will have negative repercussions on the entire region.

“Lebanon will not remain silent if Israel exploited a strike against Syria to attack Hizbullah in the South,” he noted.

“The resistance and army protect Lebanon and the country has a natural right to defend its land,” Mansour stressed.

“Despite its fighting in Syria, the resistance is ready at any time to face any assault,” he explained.

“The resistance was formed to defend Lebanon and its land alongside the army,” he remarked.

Western countries including the United States are considering their response to an alleged chemical weapons attack by the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad on August 21.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said the West could act on Syria even without the full backing of the United Nations Security Council.

So, Lebanese-based Syrian Foreign Minister Mansour now declares in a way that everyone can understand, that he is 100% against overall control of the whole territory of the Republic of Lebanon being returned to the central government.

Yislam Timmak Ya Mansour. Mansour you are and you shall be. Despite Lieberman's most recent statement that both HA and Syria are not interested in any conflict with Israel, your statement comes to comfort all of us the Lebanese that Lebanon, an emerging economic and military super-power will not remain silent if HA is attacked. I am sure you and the leadership of our country are drawing up contingency plans as we speak to face any silly Israeli takfiri eventuality. May the Lord Bless you.....

RFT, so how soon will H.A. fire a few rockets towards Israel or kidnap some Israeli soldiers to incite another fabricated war? I would suggest paving the road for the Palestinians and their weapons out of Lebanon towards where ever it is appropriate for them. Once they are out of Lebanon, lets see if Israel attacks you again.

Missing beirutbastard00 over 10 years

Vincent, first of all it's a known fact that Israel was planning that war 10months before, and was just waiting for the excuse. HA kidnapped the soldiers to exchange for a Lebanese prisoner. Your argument is invalid.

Vincent your people are a racist people, they hate us not because of HA or Palestinians or Muslims, but because we are Arabs. It makes no difference to you.

I have a counter proposal for you... Stop your over flights, pull out all your spies, give back shebaa, stop stealing our resources, and release all Lebanese in your custody if any are left after HA forced your hand... Then lets see if HA attacks you.

Missing VINCENT over 10 years

Beirutbastard: I am sure Israel had been preparing to engage the Iran's proxy army, the H.A., whether for 10 months or more because said army is placed there to be a threat to Israel (not that I give a damn about Israel). Now, this is a known fact. Also, it is always a good thing to check your facts before publishing them. As to your fabricated statement that "H.A. kidnapped the soldiers to exchange a Lebanese prisoner," it is clear to me you want the readers to come to the conclusion that H.A.'s initial intent for seizing the Israeli soldiers was to bring about the exchange of the Lebanese prisoner, which is false. In fact, the issue and the bargaining for the exchange of the Lebanese prisoner came after the war ended, and the dead bodies of the Israeli soldiers were exchanged in July 2008 in a prisoner swap for "5" Lebanese prisoners held by Israel.

Missing VINCENT over 10 years

Even if what you say is somewhat credible and was considered for seizing the Israeli soldiers, why would H.A. even attempt to kidnap Israeli soldiers at a time when, as you say, "Israel was preparing for the war for 10 months, a known fact, and was just waiting for an excuse to attack Lebanon?" Which set Lebanon and its economy back for five years. I'll let the readers figure out whose argument is valid. Also, you are not so clever to conclude that I am an Israeli. I am Lebanese and I want all filth whether Christians, Muslims, Palestinians, Iranians, Greeks, cats, dogs, gold fish, a race that has not yet been discovered to leave Lebanon and take their problems with them. And no, I do not hate people or races because of their background. I don't care if you are an Arab, Palestinian, Muslim, Christian or Japanese.

Missing VINCENT over 10 years

I would most certainly care regarding what you represent, and what you are doing to me, my family and land. It is your business whether you are H.A. or Al-Qaeda, or a new and sacred club/hezeb just been authorized by God. If you are a Palestinian, I would suggest going to Southern France, locating Arafat's widow and ask her to fork over the billion of dollars she is sitting on that was supposed to help the Palestinian people. I would then figure out a honorable way to pay the good Lebanese people back for all the hardship and carnage the Palestinian issue caused us and leave the country to fight or love whomever you want and/or care to.

Vincent, I'm assuming ur Israeli because of how u are so defensive over Israel, and u speak of Lebanon in a third person, like ur not from here. Maybe u just live abroad, and you're exposed to a lot of propaganda.

Anyway, if u look it up, after the war a few facts came out. One of them was the fact that Israel was preparing for a SPECIFIC military incursion into Lebanon, not generally training because of HA. If you know anything, you'd know that HA was created after Israel invaded us. So your argument that Israel is not the aggressor is invalid.

Ur defense of Israel is sickening! How can u ignore all the misery they have caused us?

All should make all possible concessions for a new government just to change this traitor... How can we, Lebanese people (even if some have somewhat weird ideas and not always very patriotic) accept to have this as a foreign affairs minister... Even among traitors we have some more presentable people - this is not acceptable... Even Jamil Sayyed defends Syria less than this thing...

Hizb iran are by definition mercenaries--it is a matter of control (mainly financially), ie who is paying for their services. they may have started out a resistance movement, but have since turned into an iranian militia, funded and controlled by tehran. the state of lebanon does not have control over their activities so you cannot consider them a part of the state, and the preposterous state/army/resistance formula is a joke--I have asked many times where a state can be successful (or if it has ever happened) if it does not the biggest player militarily.

If the U.S. had not intervened in Iraq and ousted that mad man Saddam Hussein and his sorry excuse of sons, who had already used C.M. against his own people and later against Iran, the amount of mass murder that would have resulted from such an evil man would have dwarfed the 100,000 or so deaths in the past two years that Bashar Al-Assad's regime orchestrated and caused.

I get some people looking towards the sky and say: "I think it is going to rain, and we need the water badly". But, after it rains, some people say: "it snowed and everything is destroyed". The U.S. took out Saddam, killed his sons those criminals and sorry excuse of human beings and cleaned his nest. They than paved the road for the mostly unrepresented and victimized Shiite population towards freedom from Saddam's tyranny and towards political progress and future prosperity, in fact, the Prime Minister is a Shiite.

Missing VINCENT over 10 years

Also, and not that I give a damn about Iran, it gave them peace of mind from their neighbors. This scenario, under normal circumstances, gives birth to and promotes solidarity amongst the average hard working people to get along and live with each other in peace and prosperity. Do you think Iran, Russia or China could have achieved this with less casualty and blood? So, has the U.S. implanted a switch in the Arab's DNA and clicks it on and off directing the Arabs to hate and kill each other? The Arabs in this region have been killing each other hundred of years before Columbus officially discovered America.

Missing VINCENT over 10 years

What do you think was going to happen in Syria when you have a minority despotic ruler presiding over the majority, and how many times can Syria invade Lebanon and rape its bounties to keep the people distracted and fed before they revolt? I think the West finally realized that the already divided Arab Muslims will never be able to live together in the same land in peace and harmony are playing the role of "Nation Rebuilding" since the failed the first time.
