Al-Mustaqbal Bloc Condemns Attacks on Civilians, Diplomats, Calls Assad 'Takfiri'

Al-Mustaqbal bloc on Tuesday condemned Hizbullah's "attacks against citizens and diplomats under the excuse of security measures,” urging the president and the premier-designate to overcome “illegal obstacles” and form a new cabinet.

"We strongly condemn the attacks of Hizbullah's militia on citizens and diplomats,” the bloc said in a released statement after the MPs' weekly meeting at the Center House.

The statement elaborated: “In addition to its fighting in Syria alongside the regimes' forces and subjecting Lebanon to all kinds of dangers, Hizbullah keeps dragging the country into clashes and puts it in a confrontation with neighboring Arab nations.”

Kuwait's ambassador to Lebanon revealed on Friday that a Kuwaiti diplomat was searched at an “unofficial checkpoint,” also calling on his country's nationals to leave Lebanon.

Also, Saudi Arabia had filed a complaint to the Foreign Ministry after one of its embassy vehicles in Lebanon was searched by Hizbullah members at a checkpoint near its stronghold of Dahieh in Beirut's southern suburbs last week.

Diplomats in the car were also searched before being allowed to return on their way.

These incidents come after Hizbullah had stepped up its security measures in and around Dahieh after a bombing in the area on August 15.

Al-Mustaqbal said that last month's twin blasts in the northern city of Tripoli “were orchestrated by Syrian intelligence bodies.”

"This contradicts with all claims that say Lebanon and its security have become under the mercy of the Takfiris,”

"(Syrian President Bashar) Assad's regime is the top Takfiri and terrorist that is targeting both Lebanon and Syria,” the statement stressed.

"Tripoli's crime is a continuation of the Samaha-Mamlouk scheme.”

The statement was pointing out to the case of former Information Minister Michel Samaha and Syrian security chief Maj. Gen. Ali Mamlouk.

Lebanese judicial authorities have charged Samaha and Mamlouk with forming a group to commit terrorist crimes in Lebanon.

The two were also charged with plotting to assassinate political and religious figures.

The al-Mustaqbal statement added: “We praise the efforts exerted by security bodies, especially by the International Security Forces Intelligence Bureau, to uncover the group that executed the bombings in Tripoli and the one behind the kidnapping of the Turkish pilots.”

In a separate matter, the conferees urged President Michel Suleiman and premier-designate Tammam Salam to “refer to their constitutional and legal powers to form a new cabinet.”

“We demand Suleiman and Salam to form a cabinet without being interrupted by unconstitutional conditions and suggestions that some factions are proposing,” the MPs said.

“Carrying on in this manner would lead to the destruction of the country and harms its economy.”

The bloc also called for resuming the national dialogue sessions.

On the Syrian war, the lawmakers accused Assad of being “fully responsible for the horrific massacres” in the neighboring country.

"We support the Syrian people's calls for political change,” they expressed.

“But we warn that Syria's turmoil could lead to the weakening of the Lebanese state and to threatening religious coexistence.”

"There must be real commitment to the policy of disassociation and we must abide by the Baabda Declaration. Safeguarding Lebanon implicates not involving the country in the Syrian armed conflict.”

The statement reiterated calls for withdrawing Hizbullah's fighters from Syria.

Shia are the biggest takfiris out there. They even claim that the prophet's wives and companions are kuffar. They consider that those who dont accept Ali as a God-appointed holy imam (imam as in a prophet-like figure and not imam leader as the term is normally used) are kuffar yet they have the nerve to accuse others of being takfiris. Shias are free to believe whatever they like just like Muslims and Christians have their own versions of who is a believer and who is a "kafir". Its ok, we all have diffirent beliefs but neither muslims nor christians are shady about their belief, we can disagree just as long as we dont harm eachother. Just dont accuse others of takfirism when you are masters in it. I have read your fatwas so i know your not innocent of takfirism. Anyone can post a question on a shia website and ask for example "can sunnis go to heaven even though they dont follow imamah" or "are christians kuffar" and see for themselves.

I would have agreed had it not been for the crazy fact that takfiri has become the favorite word of shias. Shiaism is a religion founded by making takfir, its the pillar of which it is based on so it's very provoking to hear them accuse others of it to such an extent as they do ever since their media decided to make this word an everyday word in their psycological warfare.

Here is Lebanese religious coexistence: Christians are guaranteed half the seats in Parliament. Estimates of their number in Lebanon range from a quarter to a third of the population. I can't figure out how March 14 got 45% of the votes in the last election and 55% of the seats, and the converse for March 8. Then there's the fact that the despised Hezbullah is the only effective and patriotic fighting force in Lebanon. And then the fact that Saudi Arabia on the one hand and NATO on the other just love the present arrangement--hmm. This is stability?

Chris rushlau, again with your purposely misleading comment on Christains in Lebanon. Where do you get the 25% of Lebanese are christains? The CIA Factbook? 39.9% of eligible Lebanese voters are christain and is the only official figure that has been released (2005) since the 1932 cencus when 54% of Lebanese were Christains. 400,000 Palestinian refugees are not lebanese and therefore the cia factbook should not include them in lebanese demographics.

Finally the world Lebanese cultural union, the official and government sanctioned representative of the Lebanese diaspora, estimate 8 million Lebanese or first generation (children of Lebanese) around the world and over 80% of them are christain.

God bless all those losers that you keep praying that they be blessed. Why would anyone else need so much calls for blessing from you? Pathetic and immature comments, always.
