Jumblat Says he Will Go to Syria Only after Regime Collapses

W300

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat has said that he would visit Syria only if the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad collapses and the country is “liberated.”

In remarks to French-language daily L'Orient Le Jour, Jumblat said: “Neither I nor my son have planned for a single moment to go to Damascus.”

“We will head to Damascus when it is liberated from the group that is now in power,” he said.

Jumblat's remarks came in response to accusations by Syrian Ambassador Ali Abdul Karim Ali that the PSP chief had contributed to a campaign against the Syrian regime by twisting facts and protecting armed elements.

He said ties between the regime and Jumblat were totally cut.

Reports that the doors of Damascus were open for Jumblat's son Taymour were not true, the diplomat added, drawing the PSP chief's retaliatory remarks.

"He is a deceptive person," Jumblat told the daily about the ambassador.

Ali also lashed out at the U.S. for being the maestro of an aggression which takes Syria as a battlefield.

He said Turkey is an essential springboard for the armed rebels while Saudi Arabia is a major financial backer.

Forces loyal to President Bashar Assad are fighting rebels seeking to topple him.

The fighting erupted in early 2011 when Assad launched a crackdown on pro-democracy protests and has since evolved into a full-blown civil war that has claimed an estimated 126,000 lives.

I am glad you asked @flamethrower: There is no such thing as a "socialist" but a socialite. We are all capitalists who love tabouleh and kibbe' nayyeh and a bit of the other.

@ice-man,
I could not help to notice that you are M14-Saudi, Turkey revolutionist. I have a question for you, do you guys abduct only Arthoudax nuns or, if oppertunity presents itself, you abduct Catholic ones as well?
This question is part of a study of the Abduction in Arab Spring or whats known as (AAS).
Your response is appreciated.
For me, and thank you for asking, we only abduct Santa-Clause.

@flamethrower: What's your take on the word "akid"? Does it mean the same to everybody?

Mr. Jumblat, if collapse is what you are waiting for, I have some news for ya,
Nations will collapse, and leaders will collapse but not Syria-Baath Assad.
Do you know why? Remember about 2000 years ago, a wise man called Jesus said, " those who build their homes on rocks, floods, winds and shocks will NEVER able to bring the house down."
Thats how solid Baath in Syria regardless of day-to-day politics.
Now for us, Santa Clause helpers, we build our houses from kids wishes!

He can't flip on bachar again. So, I believe him when he says such a thing. He knows bachar will be gone after the transitional governement is tasked to take over. On that day, we will all point out with our lovely fingers where the collaborators innlebanon lived, hezzi and fpmers. Let majnaoun defend them again. LoL...

This political class should be exterminated. Yet, I do not hold high hopes for the alternatives judging by this website which is a representative of the Lebanese population's deep divide.
