Airport Customs Seize Cocaine, Arrest Smuggler
Customs at Rafik Hariri International Airport thwarted on Friday an attempt to smuggle 6 kilograms of cocaine to Lebanon, the state-run National News Agency reported.
NNA said the customs agents arrested a 57-year-old Brazilian woman, who had arrived to Beirut from Brazil via Ethiopia.
She had stashed the cocaine in two double bottom suitcases, the agency said.
The suspect will be referred to the Central Anti-Drug Bureau in Beirut for questioning.
Earlier this month, a similar arrest was made at Beirut airport after customs agents seized 6 kilos of cocaine from a traveler who had also come to Lebanon from Brazil via Ethiopia.
