Suleiman: Proportional Representation in Electoral Law Liberates Youth from Sectarianism
President Michel Suleiman condemned on Monday the terrorist attacks in Norway, attributing them to the loss of family values.
On an electoral law for the 2013 parliamentary elections, he stated: “It’s important for a country like Lebanon to prepare laws that allow youths to escape the clutches of sectarianism, starting with the adoption of proportional representation in elections.”
“Furthermore, a civil status law would pave the way for a civil state,” he noted.
“The law does not violate religious rights, which would bolster the dialogue of cultures and religion,” Suleiman added.
The president held talks on Monday with Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud, and the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammed Raad.
On Friday, a bomb attack targeted central Oslo killing at least six people.
It was followed by a shooting in a Norway youth camp that saw the death of some 93 people.
Walla walla , with the new electoral law , if March 14 have today 60 MP's , they will not have more than 25 to 30 maximum in 2013 .... Bye Bye ya helween .
