Iran Commander: Hizbullah's Missile Power Improved

W300

A senior commander of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards said Saturday that Hizbullah has dramatically improved its missile capabilities and can now pinpoint targets anywhere in Israel.

Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh said Israelis will see Hizbullah's new might should a war break out.

He said slain Hizbullah commander Hassan al-Laqqis played a key role in boosting the group's military strength, although he did not elaborate.

"He was a great, resourceful and very active Hizbullah commander whose works could be revealed should a Hizbullah-Israel war break out. He created great defense supplies," and was "one of Hizbullah's brains in the field of electronic war," Hajizadeh said.

The comments were posted on the Guard's website, sepahnews.com.

Al-Laqqis was assassinated last month near his residence in Hadath, in southern Beirut.

Top Revolutionary Guard commanders attended a service earlier this week in Tehran in commemoration of the slain commander.

Hajizadeh didn't say how Hizbullah's missile capability had improved, but The Wall Street Journal has reported that the group has been moving parts of advanced guided-missile systems to Lebanon from bases where it had stored them inside Syria.

U.S. officials told the Journal recently the weapons were transferred into Lebanon from Syria piece-by-piece to evade Israeli air strikes.

Why doesn't this stupid nut head fight Israel from his country: Iran? And why should HA have improved fire power - unless he considers HA a replacement to the government in Lebanon which will never happen? The Lebanese will fight this cancerous HA until killing it and the Shia in Lebanon return to the folds of their country.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

(1). Well thank you Hezbollah for letting us know and the Israelis too about your new missiles capacity. Next time around the Israelis would have made their contingency plans to bombard us Lebanese using massive firepower. They'll turn our cities, towns and villages to dust. People will be blown to bits, your brave militiamen will try like in the past to fire from within schools, orphanages and other places of heavy civilian concentrations. Well dear Hezbollah, in 2006, the latency time between a fired missile and for the Israeli response using the GPS tracking system was about 6 minutes, now it's gone down to less than a minute or even less. In all probability the Israelis would have detected your movements well before your motor cycle mounted militiamen could shoot, but all the same, next time they'll turn us all into powder.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

(2). And your leadership would still be in hiding, safely cocooned like a newborn. We Lebanese don't want any other war, 5alass, no more wars. You ya Hezbollah got us into this Syrian mess, despite all our warnings and advice which you kept ridiculing and refusing, now what again, you want to get us into another Israeli mess? For all I know, we have an army, the LAF, give them your weapons, join the army, and let the Lebanese State decide all matters of war and peace, not you. Damn!!!

Thumb ice-man over 10 years

it is so unlike HA to hide in schools and hospitals and fire on Israel.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

Has anyone bothered to ask why twice, Qana was hit in that very same place? Has anyone bothered to ask why some of the very same people were carrying the shredded corpses of innocent and unsuspecting children? Why were the cameras so quick to cover these two identical stories, why? If anyone wishes to take time, why at least not make a search on the net, and see abundant coverage of Hezbollah firing rockets from within civilian concentrations? has anyone asked anything about why they used motorcross type cycles? Why weren't they so worried at the time about the heat signatures that were emitted from the exhaust pipes and engines, present well before the rockets launched? The game was then, 6 minutes, which now no longer exist, simple.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

Southern, how about if I told you that two of the men carrying dead kids are known by some? Would Israel be so stupid on two occasions at a UN HQ in which civilians took refuge? I am not defending Israel in any way, but I am at pains to point out the automated responses of the Israeli defense missiles of the time, they go about a programmed calculus that followed heat signatures, it's the 6 minutes latency time of the time that Hezbollah exploited to cause what they are now accusing on Tsahal. I am still stressing on that valid point, that latency time is now gone, so what new tricks will HA use now? I know one thing, it all smells bad for the ordinary person in Lebanon, all because people like you keep telling us that we need this so-called resistance of yours. I used to honor it once, back in 2000, now anymore.

Default-user-icon Danny B (Guest) over 10 years

When the time will come and Hezballa will make a stupid attempt shooting those missiles at Israel, we all know who will pay the price.
While Israel might be targeted and there will be severe damages, we all know that most of the population are sheltered, in each hose there are safe sheltered rooms with reinforced walls.
Can't say same about Lebanon.
Don't think you will find even one Lebanese dreaming of running with his family to look for safe place and the pictures on TV to return showing casualties.
Can't understand why people of Lebanon are dreaming to return once more to the pictures of ruins Ashes to Ashes. Dust to Dust.
Think for over 65 year there are dreamers of Israel's distraction, while the Arab world and specially the people of Lebanon paid the most severe price for those dreams while the territorial dispute with Israel is the smallest.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

Good point FT, which is why I keep saying that everyone keeps dumping their wars on us Lebanese, on our soil, then they tell us, go fight the Zionist evil, then they talk of a resistance of some form and God knows what again. The point is dear FT, we Lebanese are made to be gullible, by accepting to take on a cause that is not really ours. I know one thing, the worst enemy of Israel is not Hezbollah, nor Iran, nor the Palestinians, the very worst enemy and nightmare of Israel is a strong Lebanese sate, with strong constitutional institutions, like a strong Lebanese Armed Forces fully capable to defend its lands enjoying full contiguity. Israel fears the educated, that's all.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

True FT bro, but not 4 million, maybe a million at most. Most Lebanese simply want a strong Lebanon, ins't it why they are getting killed in the first place?

Please my dear brother, some facts should not be dissimulated, not now, not ever. Thanks for understanding my feelings on this.

M8 responder ...... As if KSA fires missiles at Israel, .... blah blah blah.

Would it not be more patriotic of both to just say: "We know they (and all others) are playing us as stooges, we Lebanese (All of us) must shun all of them and build our State and army.

Phoenx1, it pains me to think that you are buying into the Israeli propaganda that Israel bombed Qana. Let me ask, did Israel bomb the helpless UN bases and kill UN personal also because HA was firing from there too? The Israelis were under heavy pressure by the American administration to continue their offensive on Lebanon. Even at the time condoles rice was saying HA needed more lesson while it was all taking place. The Israelis were taking a heavy toll in south Lebanon. They bombed Qana in order to create an out cry for world attention to help stop the war. The war was not going right for Israel and the Israelis wanted out sooner then everyone is led to believe. I would agree that Israel was not stupid enough to hit Qana twice, it was rather a calculated move to create a result. Its disgusting that innocent civilians had to pay, and painful to know that there are Lebanese that buy into Israeli propaganda about the events.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

City and Southern, I read your posts both, and I also thank you dear brothers for responding. In fact about those reports, sadly for us all, there happens to be quite a few and each one contradicting the other. I have based my opinion purely based on technical facts, and the Israeli finding is definitely one that I'll take with a pinch of salt. The report I read is the one issued by the UN, that in itself damns both Israel and Hezbollah for being so reckless when it comes to their approach to that war and in respect of those two attacks. I owe you both an apology for not being the consensual person, I am aiming purely to remain as objective as I possibly could, trust me, in our days that is not a simple task. God bless you both.

Thumb cityboy over 10 years

No Phoenix, you don't owe us an apology, at least not me. You have your views, often I don't agree with them, especially on Syria. I was only offering my perspective as to why Israel hit Qana. I am sure you know Israel's official line when it hits civilians. They use the standard line that they were fired on from there. The same holds true in Gaza, west bank and in Lebanon. God bless to you as well.

Thumb liefighter over 10 years

Then why are you accusing M14 of trying to lengten the war, They were giving you time to defeat Israel once for good, LOL.

Thumb -phoenix1 over 10 years

Correct, I will use Mr. Sarkozi's words on Israel's actions, Disproportionate Force. It is this exactly I fear they would use again, but this time a lot worse. I firmly believe that now is the time for us Lebanese to move to creating a real State, one with a powerful army, whereby everyone, HA included will contribute towards achieving. Only only way forward is the Lebanese State, enjoying strong institutions, and a truly functional democracy. I regret to see that we were all so close not so long ago. Again, thank you Tex, City and Southern, always an education to discuss with you brothers.
