Report: Army and Police Captives are Held in Caves

Jihadists are holding the captives from the Lebanese army and police in huge caves on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, al-Mustaqbal newspaper reported on Sunday.

The daily said that the soldiers and members of the Internal Security Forces abducted by the Islamic State terrorist group are held in a cave in Wadi al-Rahwa while the ones taken captive by the al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front are present in Wadi Mira.

Wadi al-Rahwa is on Arsal's outskirts while the cave in Wadi Mira lies in the Syrian Qalamoun region, which is geographically linked to the Lebanese town.

The jihadists are entrenched in the caves and have taken control of farm houses in the area, al-Mustaqbal said.

Al-Nusra Front and the IS took the soldiers and policemen hostage when they overran Arsal in early August.

In late August and early September, two Lebanese soldiers were beheaded by the IS. On Saturday, al-Nusra announced that the group killed another soldier.

The Lebanese army said in a communique late Saturday that it has shelled areas where the terrorist groups are located on the outskirts of Arsal.

Several of them were killed and injured, it said.

“The army will continue to take strong measures to protect citizens and guarantee the success of the security measures that it has been tasked with,” said the communique.

The military added that it “would not tolerate terrorist groups wherever they are on Lebanese territories and no matter how much sacrifices were made.”

Can we use the Iranian-hizbollah reconnaissance planes to take pictures similar to the one above Geagea house? When we need the resistance it's busy elsewhere deeper in Syrian cities?

@jihadimission
I support your right to your opinion but, why your insistence on the use of derogatory terms such as "mitwali"? It adds nothing meaningful and only serves to alienate others. Drop it, please.

I agree with you these guys are doomed unfortunately

Thumb lebanon_first over 11 years

I dont agree. I think that a commando operation with air strikes can wreak havoc to those terrorists and destabilize them. They are scared and have nowhere to run to. Plus winter is coming fast.

because HA does not negotiate with the Israeli enemy thru germany to release its prisoners nor does it negotiate with ISIS/Nusra to release its pilgrims, nor it is currently negotiating with ISIS to exchange prisoners. HA is HA and can do what HA wants because it is the party of God.

Missing .karim-. over 11 years

Find the caves and annihilate the jihadist terrorists.

I am sure HA is preparing for such an operation. After all they implicated the LAF in their battle.

We all knew those cavemen were straight out of the Neolithic period.

I hate HA as much as the next guy, but if these cowards have issues with HA why not release these soldiers and take on HA, let both sectarian parties [ HA and ISIS] wipe each other out, after all the LAF is not involved in Syria, HA is.
