78-Year-Old Man Tries to Smuggle Hashish to Jailed Grandson

A grandfather has tried to smuggle a quantity of hashish to his jailed grandson, in the latest unusual attempt to breach prison security.

The 78-year-old man, identified as Sh. B., was arrested by police guards at the Zahle prison, an Internal Security Forces statement said.

“He tried to smuggle hashish to his 25-year-old grandson by hiding the quantity in a winter jacket,” the statement added.

On Saturday, guards at the Tyre prison thwarted an attempt to smuggle hashish hidden in a number of potatoes.

Bizarre attempts to smuggle drugs into prisons have increased in recent months.

On October 22, guards foiled a bid to smuggle hundreds of Benzhexol pills and an amount of hashish that were hidden in a pair of shoes into the al-Qobbeh prison in Tripoli.

In July, security forces at the Aley prison seized a quantity of hashish that was hidden in “21 pistachio shells.”

Earlier in the year, security guards at the Zahle prison foiled separate attempts to smuggle drugs in a toothpaste tube, meat pastries, meat sandwiches and apricots.

Has anybody been keeping tabs on the different techniques attempted to try to smuggle stuff inside a prison? This would make great material for a movie...

No dear Coolmec, they should jail him, his age doesn't exonerate him from this crime. Now both him and his grandson need the dope, right?
