Family Confirms Death of Syria's Rustom Ghazaleh

Syria's former political intelligence chief Rustom Ghazaleh has died, after being fired for a quarrel with another regime official in which he was beaten up, a source close to his family said Friday.
Ghazaleh, an ex-stalwart of President Bashar Assad's regime, had been in hospital since the dispute with another intelligence official early in March.
"He died at 7:00 am today (Friday) in a Damascus hospital and will be buried tomorrow in the capital," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
At the beginning of March, Assad fired both Ghazaleh and General Rafiq Shehadeh, head of military intelligence, after they quarreled.
The two men had a violent argument over Ghazaleh's involvement in the southern front of the conflict in Syria, a high-ranking security source told AFP at the time.
Ghazaleh was replaced by his former deputy, Nazih Hassoun, with Mohamed Mahalla taking over as military intelligence chief, the source said.
Ghazaleh had reportedly been seeking greater involvement in the battle against rebels in the southern province of Daraa, where he was born.
But Shehadeh "was categorically opposed to him taking part in the battle" in the area by regime forces backed by Lebanon's Hizbullah, the source said.
"A violent disagreement erupted and Shehadeh's men beat up Ghazaleh badly," the source said.
Ghazaleh was briefly hospitalized after the incident but was readmitted later on suffering complications related to hypertension.
Ghazaleh and Shehadeh both took their posts in July 2012, after being promoted following a bombing that killed four top regime figures.
Shehadeh was previously head of military intelligence in central Homs province, an early bastion of the opposition to Assad's regime.
Ghazaleh was previously head of military security in Damascus.
In 2002, Ghazaleh was named head of Syrian military intelligence in Lebanon, where he was accused of intervening extensively in the country's political affairs.
He was also frequently named by witnesses as a suspect in the planning of the 2005 assassination of Lebanon's former premier Rafik Hariri.

Many Lebanese and Syrians who reside with me up here have been waiting for the arrival of this VIP with anxiety. Now that he is finally here, an official ceremony in his honor will be held face to face with every Lebanese and Syrian he tortured and killed. Let the rituals begin:)

بشّر القاتل بالقتل ولو بعد حين ولعنة بلاد الأرز تلاحق الظلّام أينما كانوا.
May he rot in hell for all the evil he did in Lebanon and Syria.

Regardless who empowered this criminal/cowered in Lebanon, he died unnoticed like a dog in a garbage dump called syria.

Words cannot describe how much this man is/was hated. The world is a better place without criminals like him. Assad is managing to conveniently get rid of all those that might expose him.

Another ASSad official dead after "quarelling" with the regime. And one less potential witness for the STL.

Good Riddance to one of the most repulsive criminals in modern history. Despite Aoun's best efforts to save Ghazali's life by sending his best doctors, the monster finally died. So, condolences to Aoun, hezbollah, and all the iranians living in Lebanon.

what a nice good news to start the weekend with. yalla others will follow soon...

wow Look at his picture what a mean and ugly dude!!!

Probably was sucided

I wonder who is going to inherit the machine gun that Nasrallah gave to Ghazaleh as a thank you gift right before the wihdrawal of the Syrian occupation army 10 years ago!!!

One way ticket to hell.

For Mystic, Mowaten, Southern, and others, ..... soon there will be no one left to offer witness proof for the STL (this fate of Ghazali is good news for them).

Paybacks are hell, and hell just opened its doors to this ruthless tyrant.

He gave him the keys to hell.
May you rot in hell along with your master ASSad.
