Hariri: Bassil's Stance Appeases Iran, Harms Lebanon

Al-Mustaqbal movement chief Saad Hariri expressed regret on Lebanon's abstention from voting on the Arab League statement that denounced Iran's acts against Saudi Arabia, Hariri's press office said in a statement on Monday.
“The abstention of Lebanon's Foreign Minister to vote on the Arab League's resolution does not reflect the opinion of the majority of the Lebanese who are suffering from the Iranian interference in their internal affairs,” Hariri's press statement said.
“The majority of the Lebanese exchange feelings of solidarity with Saudi Arabia which is recognized for its supporting stances during times of crises and after each Israeli aggression against Lebanon,” he added.
“Alleging that the Arab League's final statement on Hizbullah's interference in Bahrain does not justify evasion from consensus on a fundamental issue addressing the Iranian meddling in internal Arab affairs. It is a fallen reason that does not go in parallel with the concept of prioritizing Lebanon's national interest to the Arab consensus.
“We are in front of a stance that only serves to appease Iran and harms Lebanon's history with its brethren Arabs,” added the ex-PM.
Top Arab diplomats, except Lebanon, rallied behind Saudi Arabia on Sunday in a dispute with Iran that has threatened to derail efforts to resolve Middle East conflicts including the war in Syria.
The Arab League joint statement denounced the "hostile acts and provocations of Iran".
Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil expressed Lebanon's rejection of the statement that condemned Hizbullah over alleged interference in Bahrain.
The Saudi-Iranian diplomatic row erupted following Saudi Arabia's execution on January 2 of a prominent Shiite cleric, Nimr al-Nimr, along with 46 others on terrorism charges.
The execution touched off anti-Saudi demonstrations in many Shiite countries including in Iran where demonstrators sacked and set fire to the Saudi embassy in Tehran and its consulate in second city Mashhad.

G.K.

Whether you like it or not, Hariri commands the largest parliamentary block and for sure he has more right and more legitimacy to speak in the name of Lebanon than your nassrallah does. Hariri is an elected official while your nassrallah is the head of a terrorist organization; It seems logical who has the legitimacy to speak on behalf of Lebanon. Did I say logical? Oh forgot.... something that you never had.

Bassil is an elected Official too, he is the foreign minister and he has every right to speak for Lebanon that he represents.
The Resistance is not a terror organisation according to Lebanese parliament.
Your words are those of America, Israel and Saudis.

who gives nassrallah the right to speak on behalf of Lebanon? Is he elected?

Mastika!
Bassil is not an elected official at all. Actually he lost all the elections he ran. He was appointed Minister of Foreign affairs, but never was elected.

"Hariri is an elected official" lol mate, you don't seem to know what you're talking about. Hariri was never elected, he inherited a title from his daddy.

Bassil is an elected official???? hehe.... yep he and nassrallah both are.

and here is a jewel of hypocrisy from moooowaten the souri guy: "You can't support institutions ONLY when they work your way, and blatantly disregard them when they don't. "
then why don't you hezbis apply that when it comes to the disassociation Policy you signed? where is it applied when it comes to respect the constitution that specifies that only the army is in charge of the defense of the country? when does it apply when it comes to follow judiciary verdicts concerning the arrest of hezbis?
pityful hezbi mooowaten the hypocrisy at its best today!

indeed he is!

Basil is a loose canon and has no boss except Hezb & Iran which is a farce. Hariri has the right to express himself in opposition of Basil's idiotic stance.

Hariris stances strengthens ISIS and Nusra/Saudi Arabia and weakens Lebanon and the army with their 3 bn blackmail that never gets done.

The iranian sectarian trolls polluting the forum as usual.

You spelled "schooling" wrong.

paid troll go troll mayadeen and manar; over there they think you are funny coz they never had any schooling.

majoosi trolls are not allowed to speak on Lebanese and Arab matters. Everybody knows you are iranian born and bred, so don't pretend to be something you are not.

Hariri, as a born and bred saudi, has no legitimacy to speak in the name of Lebanon.
Bassil on the other hand is Lebanon's foreign minister, it is his prerogative to take position on the Arab League matter, so either respect his decision or stop pretending you stand on institutions' side. You can't support institutions ONLY when they work your way, and blatantly disregard them when they don't.
