Lebanon Commemorates Rafik Hariri's Assassination Anniversary

W300

Lebanon marked on Tuesday the twelfth anniversary of slain former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, who was assassinated in a massive and shocking suicide bombing in 2005 that destabilized the country.

In downtown Beirut, political leaders gathered to lay flowers at Hariri’s grave.

Al-Mustaqbal Movement leader and Prime Minister Saad Hariri visited his father's tomb early on Tuesday.

A torch sculpture, that is part of a memorial that includes a statue of Hariri, was lit near the St. Georges Hotel where the blast went off at exactly 12:55 pm.

Al-Mustaqbal Movement held a commemoration ceremony at BIEL at 4:00 p.m. marking the occasion.

The Feb. 14, 2005 assassination killed Hariri and 21 others and wounded more than 200 people, stunning a nation long used to violence.

The charismatic billionaire businessman was Lebanon's most prominent Sunni politician. Although a divisive figure, he was credited with rebuilding downtown Beirut after the ravages of the 1975-90 civil war.

The massive explosion that tore through his convoy on the Beirut seaside 12 years ago sent a tremor across the region and unleashed a popular uprising that briefly united the Lebanese and ejected Syrian troops from the country. But despite millions of dollars spent, justice remains elusive in a case that has been overshadowed by more recent turmoil.

Five Hizbullah suspects are being tried in absentia by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon based in The Hague.

I have the utmost respect for Al-Mustaqbal Movement leader and Prime Minister Saado Hariri for visiting his father's tomb early on Tuesday and for continually living his legacy.

I respect Al Mustaqbal as much as I respect Dactor Geagea.

On February 14th 2005, Lebanese Prime Minister was killed by his own fellow men on the orders of Syrian President Bachar el Assad.

On February 13th 2017, Lebanese blogger Terrorist was terminated by his own fellow men on the orders of Syrian President Michel Aoun.

The martyrs forgave their killers after moving on to an after life just like Jesus and Muhammad did before them.

May their souls rest in peace!

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

As of late, I started feeling immense respect for Mr. blablablabla for several reasons chief among them:

1) He is Christian

2) He is vegetarian and not sectarian.

3) He has a beautiful secretary among many named Beatrice who has a laptop.

4) He still uses a Telex machine at his corporate headquarters in Paris, France.

16:23"mtv": لم توجّه دعوة لريفي لحضور إحتفال البيال بسبب القطيعة السياسية بينه وبين الحريري.

So Saad Hariri politicizes the memory of his late father.

The only hope for Lebanon is a popular Cedar Revolution II that maintains the same principle of freedom, democracy, independence and sovereignty but excludes all the current political class that proved to be incapable of upholding these principles. I am hopeful it will happen as no bright people can stay stupid for so long.

Twelve years down the line and the Hizi2 b'Allah murder-machine has downgraded their targets further from Israeli occupation to Lebanese politicians who don't agree with them to Syrian women and children whom Baschar orders to be killed. Bravo ya "muqawameh". Walla shee byirfa3 el ras into! Tfeh!
